This Neolithic archaeological site is considered to be the oldest structure in the world made by humans that’s still standing today. It was built in 9500 B.C, which makes it twice as old as Stonehenge.

After the closure of a downtown mall, Muskegon, Michigan, decided to put the land to good use. The city constructed 12 wooden buildings ranging from 90-150 square feet at a cost of just $5,000-$6,000 per building. It then allowed local entrepreneurs to rent the “chalets,” providing an incubation space for local businesses.

The experiment was massively successful. It reactivated the city’s downtown, helped many small businesses get off the ground, and created a great experience for residents and tourists alike. Private developers are also embracing the experiment, including “micro-retail” opportunities in their new constructions.
