We are a small family farm in Scottsville, Kentucky currently producing pasture raised meats. We are attempting to manage our farm holistically. Among other things, we hope this yields healthier soil, healthier plants, healthier animals, and ultimately healthier food for people year after year. We currently are focusing on producing grass fed beef and lamb/mutton. We also have pasture raised chick
en and pork for sale. We use animals to harvest free solar energy in the form of pasture plants.
2. We move our animals onto fresh pasture every day on a normal basis.
3. We use free choice minerals. Animals have access to 20 separate minerals at all times. If the pasture is not providing a mineral, they can supplement exactly what they need, and then deposit some back onto the pasture where it is needed.
4. We don't manage our farm with any chemicals or pharmaceuticals.
5. We use Lowline Angus cattle. Bred to be smaller cattle, Lowlines are more efficient grazers, finish faster on grass than the standard commercial cow, and produce less waste in the slaughtering process. All of this means a more economical beef product for you, the customer. It's a win/win for farmer and consumer.
6. We currently have St. Croix hair sheep, the most parasite resistant breed of sheep known. We don't worm our sheep. They also don't produce wool, which takes a considerable amount of energy each year away from their production of meat. This means a more energy efficient animal that finishes faster on grass and is more economical. Again, a win/win. Anything else we should include here? Let us know.
