I started the morning chores before 7am and finished at 1:30pm. My hopes for getting a little extra sleep this morning were put aside due to the older dogs having incontinence issues all through the house last night and in their crates. Then I went out to let the birds out and heard babies chirping. I discovered one bantam hen who I thought a hawk had got, hatched 3 of the tiniest bantam babies the size of button quail. So I get them settled in a cat carrier indoors. Once I finished up feeding and watering everyone I had to run into town for gas and square bales to feed the horses. I got back and didn't want to monkey with letting the goats out (they are often naughty) so I decided to haul the bales through the dog pen and down the hill to the horses. Easier said than done especially with only one good arm because I am injured. I took a bit of a rest but now I need to rebathe the dogs that were laying on peed blankets last night.

Truth: 99% of the time running an animal rescue is spent cleaning nonstop and dealing with constant emergencies or unexpected problems.

Our sweet old lady Sylvia. She is one of our senior rescues. She has trouble with her legs so she isn't very mobile, but she has been making the effort to exercise daily and it's really paying off. She has been wandering through the house more and she always has something to say! Sylvia is in her late teens. ❤️

Gold Laced Sebright Bantam Rooster --Robin Hood is non-aggressive and Spring 2026 hatched

6 Bantam Mixes - 3 boys, 3 girls. Mom is porcelain, Dads are red pyle and Millie fleur booted bantams. These guys are great foragers. Non aggressive but they are going in the dog pen daily so I rather find them a good home. Hatched Summer 2026.
