Since we only do whole hogs, for all of our customers that are looking for 1/4, 1/2 or whole beef this is who we always refer to! Give Matt at Elm Creek Beef a call, he will hook you up! For you smaller orders, we have your chicken, pork and Wagyu cuts!

Same cut. VERY different steak. 🄩

Filet mignon is known for being incredibly tender—but traditionally, it’s also one of the leanest cuts of beef.

Now look at what happens when that filet comes from our F3 Wagyu. šŸ‘€

On the left: a traditional filet mignon.
On the right: our actual Four Square Farm F3 Wagyu filet.

See all those fine white lines running through our steak? That’s marbling—intramuscular fat woven throughout the meat. As it cooks, that fat renders and contributes to the richness, juiciness and flavor Wagyu is famous for.

And remember…this is a FILET. 😳

You already get the tenderness filet mignon is famous for. Add that beautiful Wagyu marbling and you get a completely different eating experience.

You don’t have to take our word for it. The beef speaks for itself. ā¤ļøšŸ„©

Election season has made us wonder…

If our farm animals were running for office, who would get your vote?

BREAKING NEWS: The House Hippo has officially met the Yard Hippo.

The meeting began with an excessive amount of snorting, a thorough sniff inspection, and a silent debate over who was actually in charge.

No treaties were signed.

No snacks were surrendered.

Just two tiny hippos communicating in their native language…

🐷 Breeding season is underway at Four Square Homestead! 🐷

One of the most exciting times of the year has begun as we start planning for next year’s feeder pigs.

This week:
🐽 Willie, our Mangalitsa boar, is spending time with Winnie, one of our Berkshire females. If all goes well, this pairing will produce our popular Mangalitsa Ɨ Berkshire crossbred feeder pigs. Willie likes to charm the girls by make clicking noises similar to the Predator sounds in the movie!

🐽 OMG Becky is with Studley in hopes of producing a litter of purebred Berkshire piglets. Becky is picky and Studley, well he is awkward but consistent! These two make our best piglets.

One fun farm fact: a pig’s gestation is commonly remembered as 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days (about 114 days). But first things first—we’re hoping for successful breedings!

There is always a lot of planning, patience, and a little bit of waiting involved in raising livestock. It starts way before that delicious meat ends up on your plate. We’ll keep you updated along the way and share what happens next as we monitor for signs that these girls have settled.

Thanks for following along with life here on the farm! ā¤ļøšŸ·
