A Note from Four Square Homestead Regarding the Proposed Farmers Market Move
Many of our customers may not realize how a move to Evergy Plaza could affect vendors like us, so we’d like to share our perspective.
As a meat vendor, we operate from a trailer with freezers that keep our products safe and at proper temperatures throughout the market. At the current location, we can park and operate efficiently with our trailer.
Under the proposed move to Evergy Plaza, we would likely need to:
• Unhook and park our trailer separately
• Find parking for our truck elsewhere
• Walk back to our booth area
• Repeat the entire process at the end of the market
This would add significant time to an already long market day and leave our refrigeration equipment disconnected longer during the hottest months of the year.
For vendors selling fresh meat, frozen products, and other temperature-sensitive foods, logistics matter. What may seem like a simple location change can create additional costs, labor, and challenges that directly affect small family farms.
We love serving our customers at the Downtown Topeka Farmers Market and want to continue bringing you the high-quality Berkshire pork, Wagyu beef, poultry, and other products you’ve come to expect from Four Square Homestead.
If maintaining easy access for local farm vendors is important to you, please consider that when sharing your feedback with the Farmers Market. Your voice matters and will help shape the future of the market.
Thank you for supporting local farms and local food.
