Hello friends,
So much is happening on the farm these days. It is equal parts exciting and overwhelming to juggle all the moving parts of the season right now.

This season we have really diversified our product mix as we get into the summer season to lean into crops that are more heat and drought resilient than we have in the past. It's a struggle to balance the amount of summer crops that need daily harvesting like squash and okra with more intensive crops like our lettuce mix, and high tunnel tomatoes that need pruning, trellising and lots of attention.

As we have become better farmers, our crop planning and systems to juggle all these different crops have really improved. I am grateful for my years of managing restaurants to help wrap my brain around task management and building realistic plans for each week with our small team- otherwise this would all be really crazy!

All that to say I am really proud of the amount of produce coming off the farm this month for our restaurant and grocery customers, and the bounty that we will have for the Hillcrest Farmers Market this Saturday!
I had my first sungold tomato of the season today and wow was it spectacular. Our slicer tomatoes and peppers are putting off tons of fruit, and our broccolini and squash are going to be ready next week.

For market 5/16 we will have:
Lettuce Mix
Lacinato Kale
Turnip Bunches
Radish Bunches
Sugar Snap Peas
Big ol' Carrot bunches
Mint
Chives
New red potatoes
Bok Choi
Green Garlic
Beets!
Pickled Carrots
Pickled Turnips!

Thank you all! Stay kind and healthy

Hello friends,
As we charged into April our field and high tunnels began to fill up quickly. I am proud to say that this is far and away the most that we have ever had planted this early in the season before. Some of this is due to improved farm systems like our new grow room, and others are just more aggressive decisions on the crop plan to get things in the ground sooner. Our risks have paid off so far, and things are looking great!
We will be back at the Hillcrest Farmers Market this week with your favorite lettuce mix, spinach, carrot bunches!!! and all the pickles.
We also have oodles of plant starts ready to get in the ground if you are interested! We can bring some starts to the Hillcrest Farmers Market, but will have everything on this list at the Bell Urban Plant sale on 4/19. All starts are grown with organic seed, and are grown in the legendary Man of the Red Earth Potting Soil. All starts are in 4" peat pots, and ready to plant now! All starts are $7ea

Hillcrest folks- please message me about any starts you would like to purchase at the farmers market this weekend. We don't have the capacity to bring a large quantity of starts to display so preordering is ideal.
Searcy fam- message me any starts you would like, and we can arrange farm pickup.
Otherwise, mark your calendars for 4/19, and we will see you in Conway!

Thank you all! Stay kind and healthy
