Did I forget anything?

It’s all the same right 😅

My girl hit me up for us to just get together and catch up and I honestly didn’t realize how much I needed it.⁣

The last few months have been overwhelming. But sitting down with someone who gets it - another female founder, chef, creative - with no agenda, no plans, no “work meeting/networking” energy… was so reinvigorating for my soul.⁣

Just talking, laughing, venting, sharing updates, and connecting for the sake of connecting.⁣

I swear I woke up the next day feeling like myself again. A reminder that human connection really is the thing. 🤍

I finally started the Substack. 🇧🇷⁣

A space where I’ll be writing more deeply about Brazil - the culture, food, history, people, memories, contradictions, beauty, and stories that continue shaping me even from far away.⁣

A place for storytelling, reflections, cultural rabbit holes, personal experiences, and the conversations that don’t always fit here.⁣

If you’ve ever wanted to go deeper with me beyond Instagram, I’d love for you to join me there.⁣ Link in bio ⬆️

This chilly Seattle spring day has me thinking about the coziest meal I made with my girl Jill Vedder! ⁣

Fun fact: back when I was cooking for Jill and her family, this chili was one of their all-time favorites. Super hearty, super easy, kid-approved, and perfect for those nonstop days of school drop-offs, practices, meetings, and life. ⁣

Basically the kind of meal that hugs you back. 🥣 Did you catch this episode of Beefed Up with Chef Emme when it dropped? Hit the link in the bio to tune in!

Today my firstborn turns 18. A whole adult… And I’m sitting here wondering how both a lifetime and a blink can be the same thing. How did it go by this fast?!⁣

We found out about you when your dad and I had just left for college, ready to start our own lives. Instead, life started with you.⁣
And from that moment on, we grew up together.⁣

Because of you, we pushed ourselves. Your dad built his business, I found my path in the chef world, we got married, we built this family. As much as we’ve taught you as parents, you’ve been one of our greatest teachers too.⁣

You’ve always known who you are creative, passionate about the arts, responsible, funny, and so smart. You’re an amazing big sister. Your siblings look up to you, and so do we.⁣

It’s hard to believe this childhood chapter is closing. I’m emotional, nostalgic, and a little sad. There are so many memories the three of us before your siblings came, the chaos, the laughter, the growing pains, the fun. Were we perfect? No. We’re human. But these 18 years have been the most joyful, intense, beautiful years of my life. I honestly don’t remember who I was before I was Denise’s mom.⁣

Our own youth got cut short when we became parents so young. But getting to watch you live, love, and experience this life we built together… getting to see the world through your eyes… it feels like a second chance at wonder. And it’s even more beautiful.⁣

I hope when you look back at your childhood you feel loved, supported, and proud that we’re your parents. Go live your life, make your way and just know your foundation, your family, your home is always here.⁣

Thank you God for choosing me to be your mommy.⁣

Happy 18th, my girl. What a gift you are 🤍💕

This year felt like breathing again.
Not rushing. Not surviving. Living.

I finally gave myself permission to dream without guilt, to want without apology, to hold others while holding myself too. It wasn’t balanced, but it was honest. And it worked. I feel full in a way I haven’t felt in years.

I’m ending 2025 with gratitude, tears in my eyes, and the kind of excitement that keeps you awake at night. A restaurant opening, a new chapter, a bigger version of myself waiting on the other side of January.

Thank you for every word of encouragement, every message, every moment you believed in me. On the days I doubted myself, you reminded me why I started.
I’m proud of this year — and I’m proud of me.

Here’s to what’s next.
