MAKE BREAD, NOT WAR. Wish a ✨happy birthday✨ to our solstice baby Alex!!! For those who know him, a practitioner of peace and absolute force of nature in the mixing, shaping, and fermentation of tens of thousands of pounds of beautiful grains grown by farmers here in Washington into thousands of salmonberry loaves for our tables. Supporting farms is truly baked into everything we do. Farmbox is brimming this time of year and want to thank everyone who supports our efforts to distribute small farm produce 🙏 In fraught and divisive times we look locally to calming thoughtful forces and tangible food systems: we’re so lucky at salmonberry to have this guy at the helm 🧡💚

We wait all year for you strawberry focaccia. June bearing strawberries grow just up the road at bring the most delicate strawberry aroma and tartness. Our tangy sourdough focaccia with fresh rye milled by in the Methow Valley (where my lil bro works on stealhead restoration, love small world moments). Topped with a lil demerara sugar and big flaky sea salt to balance it out. These simple ingredients orbit each other and super collide into one of my favorite bakes. Hope you enjoy and thank you for supporting small farmers all over the state and a couple bakers here in Ballard 🧡💚

In my heart, I believe most of the people in this country are on the same page. We all love our friends and families. We all benefit from a healthy environment and regulated climate. We want healthcare on our terms. We all love a flavorful nutritious meal. We want to be treated equally. We want our children to be safe and educated. We want a fair tax system that gives a break to folks who struggle and regulates the wealth and power of the richest among us. We are being manipulated and kept in echo chambers by media companies owned by the same billionaires who think they can buy our elections. We must take our future back. We must support farmers who protect the environment. We must break bread with each other, we all need healthy food to maintain energy and joy. We must take more action in building bridges with those around us, because though it feels like we are more divided that ever I believe we are more on the same page than we think. If you want to see change you can’t count on other people to deliver it to you. We are here for you. We love you. You are not alone 🫂 Please leave your favorite comfort meal in the comments I think we all need it 🧡💚 extra cred if you include the recipe
