This season we’re bringing you a series of classes all around our favorite sparkling w**es!

✨October 19th [ SOLD OUT ] - Hidden Treasures: An Evening with Ch*****ne J. Vignier

🇮🇹November 9th: Italian Sparkling W**es - Italian bubbles are so much more than Prosecco! 🥂 Join Jess as we explore Italy’s sparkling w**e landscape, from tank-method spumante and rustic col fondo to elegant traditional-method sparklers and the fizzy reds making waves in w**e scene.

✨December 7th: Ch*****ne ✔️ Prosecco ✔️ Now for the fun part! 🥂 Join Chris as we wrap up our sparkling w**e mini-series with unexpected bubbles from obscure regions, surprising grapes, and unconventional styles—proof that great sparkling w**e can come from just about anywhere.

October Tastings: The Strange, the Surprising, & the Spectacular 🎃🍷🍂

W**e is full of strange traditions, mysterious transformations, and happy accidents. This month we’re diving into some of its greatest mysteries... from the veil of living yeast that creates Sherry’s flor, to the intentional oxidation behind Vin Jaune and Madeira, to the many surprising ways w**emakers capture bubbles in a bottle. Come explore some of w**e’s most fascinating styles and the stories behind them!

Every Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM | $15 per tasting with a $5 credit towards a bottle purchase from the nights lineup!

🍇October 6th- Carbonic Maceration: grapes that ferment from the inside out? Join us to discover how this unusual fermentation method transforms the w**es in your glass.

🇦🇷 October 13th- Zuccardi - Rethinking Mendoza: We’re excited to welcome Wendi, National Sales Manager for Zuccardi, to explore a different side of Argentina. Come discover why Mendoza is far more than just Malbec.

💨October 20th- Oxidation & Flor: Win Jaune, Vin de Paille & Sherry. Sometimes oxygen is the enemy. Sometimes it’s the secret ingredient. Join us as we explore the remarkable w**es that prove oxidation isn’t always a flaw.

Join us at Walter’s for a deep dive into the Ch*****ne of J. Vignier, a family domaine with 10 generations of Vignier w**emaking history and 6 generations rooted in the Grand Cru village of Cramant.

Founded by Nathalie Vignier and Sebastian Nickel, J. Vignier was born from Nathalie’s mission to uncover the “hidden treasures” within her family’s vineyards and let individual parcels tell their own stories.

We’ll welcome Kevin Pike of Schatzi W**es for a guided tasting exploring Cramant, the Côte des Blancs, and the Côte de Sézanne — plus a rare pour of Hubert Soreau’s ultra-limited Le Clos l’Abbé Brut Nature.

Chris had a chance to chat with Food Republic on common mistakes when pairing food and w**e! 🍷

🥂A few takes aways for you:

1. The food doesn’t have to be fancy and the w**e doesn’t have to be expensive to make a great pairing

2. Don’t let traditional w**e pairing principles weigh you down, use them as a springboard rather than an endpoint

3. W**e and cheese is a great pairing BUT there is a lot to consider when pairing such as type of milk, rind and even the diet of the animal

4. Temperature is very important! Most people are either serving whites too cold and reds too warm

Georgia: 8,000 Years of W**e🍷

Join us at Walter’s on September 29 from 5–7pm for a tasting dedicated to the w**es of Georgia — one of the world’s oldest and most fascinating w**e cultures.

Georgia has been making w**e for more than 8,000 years, tucked into the Caucasus between the Black and Caspian Seas. With dramatic landscapes, changing elevations, and an incredible collection of native grapes, Georgian w**e offers styles you won’t find just anywhere.

One of the country’s most iconic traditions is qvevri— massive clay vessels buried in the earth, where w**es ferment and macerate on their skins for weeks or even months. The result? Deeply textured w**es with wonderfully wild flavors ranging from cumin and curry powder to marmalade and honeysuckle.

And Georgian w**e culture doesn’t stop at the bottle. Meals can last for hours, overflowing with food, w**e, toasts, and tradition. You might even encounter a khantsi— an ornamental drinking horn filled with w**e. The recipient makes a toast, declare “Gaumarjos! (essentially, “to victory!”), and drinks the whole thing.

Sounds fun, eh? We think so. 🇬🇪🍷

Happy September, Walter’s pals. Your September w**e club release is here! 🍷🍂

Every fall we run into the same creative block. September is such a month of transition, and the weather is always a wild card. Will it stay warm and sunny for one last stretch of summer, or suddenly turn crisp and rainy, calling for richer whites and crunchy reds?

So this year, we asked ourselves: what else makes us think of September?...and the answer was Earth, Wind & Fire.

It started as a joke — “Wait... what if the 21st of September was a Monday and we taught a class?” (It is, and we did)— quickly snowballed into a full month of Earth, Wind & Fire Tuesday tastings, a Monday class, and this month’s w**e club release.

This month’s selections explore w**es shaped by the elements — from volcanic soils and windswept islands to mountain vineyards — showcasing how place and terroir influence what’s in your glass.

The month’s results are in, and boy, were we in for some surprises!

🏆 Team WA: 4 wins

🌍 Team World: 0 wins

Last week’s final battle between Gorge producer Poberaj and Northern Italy & Slovenia was our closest matchup yet, with two of the three rounds coming down to just a handful of votes. In the end, Poberaj pulled out the win and helped Team WA finish the month undefeated!

If you’d asked us at the start of the month who we thought would win, we definitely would have had some uncertainty.

While we love our Washington w**eries, we also love the classic w**es that have inspired so many w**emakers around the world. We expected close battles—and while some certainly were, a few matchups surprised us!

Thanks to everyone who joined us for tastings, cast votes, followed along on social, and cheered on the home team. What a fun way to celebrate Washington W**e Month! 🍷🌍
