Littorai

Littorai Official Littorai Wines page. Biodynamic and sustainable winegrowers. We use only natural materials, avoiding all commercial fertilizers.

Small family winery owned and operated by Ted & Heidi Lemon who produce world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from West Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley. Our farming techniques are the expression of many years’ research in the fertile cross currents of permaculture, agro-ecology, and biodynamic farming. Estate produced compost is our “fertilizer” of choice. The winery lies on our 30-acre farm chos

en for its unique potential to demonstrate this different approach to winegrowing. We produce as many of the farm and vineyard needs on site as possible in a manner harmonious with and respectful of the surrounding environment and wildlife. We welcome guests for tours and tastings by advanced appointment. You may schedule a visit at https://www.exploretock.com/littorai.

Back for round two! We had such a good time at the first Hella Chenin Fest last year, and we’re looking forward to being back on Saturday, May 16th.

40+ producers from California, Oregon, South Africa, France, and Australia, all pouring their own take on one endlessly interesting and versatile grape. We love the variety in all its many forms, from steely and fresh to rich and late harvest.

We’ll be pouring two vintages of Chenin from The Haven, our original estate vineyard and the only site planted to the variety on the West Sonoma Coast.

Hope to see you there!

Repost from My latest article Littorai: The First Thirty Years is on the Vinous home page now. It chronicles two recent tastings of older wines, peppered with a ton of historical information and insights I have gleaned in 15 years of visiting the winery every year. More than that, this article embodies the essence of what we do at Vinous. Reviews are part of the narrative, the rest is context. A lot of context. This article includes a special map we did of Littorai’s vineyard sites and a video of Ted Lemon dissecting the nuances of West Sonoma County taken from our recent Vinous Icons event. Hope you like it 🤓🤓🤓😊😊😊

Yesterday’s visit to our vineyards provided a rare beautiful sight of the Pacific Ocean which is usually veiled by fog and haze. Which vineyard view do you prefer?

One of our favorite indicators of biological and environmental health in a vineyard is the presence of wild strawberries. Wild strawberries are very sensitive to environmental disturbance, herbicides and pesticides. This section of The Haven Vineyard has not been tilled for more than 15 years. These strawberries are not just located under a single vine but extend up the row! Humans and nature in harmony.
