A Visit from Saint Vincent

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and there was no doubt

We were thirsting for wine, but the cellar’d run out.

The Champagne’d been drunk and we had no Prosecco,

No Cava, no Korbel, not brut, dry, or seco.

The guests were now restless, all milling about,

Sipping sticky sweet egg nog in this sparkling drought;

The feeling so desperate that we eyed a decanter,

Of crystal, and bourbon(!), which wasn’t the answer.

When out in the drive screeched the brakes of a truck,

It was the Merchants of Thirst, what fortune! What luck!

We dashed out for their sleigh, unloading Champagne and Sherry,

Our Christmas was saved, pull corks, and be Merry.

With the cellar re-stocked, the truck pulled out of view,

Inside, laughter echoed, joyous friendship ensued.

Now at the piano, our host slumped to his right,

“Sherry Christmas to all,” now slurring, “Good night!”

This Wednesday - Scientist turned winemaker Kristie Tacey focuses on producing small, hand-crafted natural wines for Tessier , the winery she founded in 2009 in Berkeley. Naming many of her wines after classic songs, Kristie is used to bringing all the hits. Kristie even has a Music & Wine Pairing Spotify playlist, so you can bet there will be inspired tunes perfectly matched to these inspired wines.
