And it begins…the Unturned Stone 2026 harvest commenced today with two beautiful tons of Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel for The Blush. Our earliest harvest on record, we usually pick Adel’s Vineyard in the last days of August, but an early bud break after unseasonably warm weather in February has fast forwarded everything this year! Indeed, 2026 promises to be a scramble. Two wild fires lit up nearby this weekend (the Wodside Fire on the coast and the Feliz Fire in Hopland) but the vineyard was blessedly free of smoke this morning, the crew was in good spirits and the grapes look and taste great! Thank you, Stephen heirloom cafe for helping us drop fruit yesterday and Hunter Friday Wine for cleaning the press!

Making room in the cellar for harvest 2026…Just finished our big Summer bottling of The Fairy’s Sister, Firebird, Fall and Recover, Gianoli Zin and Waterhorse Cab!

Cheers to Harvest 2025! Randy and I feel blessed to be making wine again this year- our 16th harvest together! 2025 has been a year of belt tightening anxiety locally, and heartbreaking divisiveness globally. It has often felt difficult not to give into anger and despair. But it has also been a year for transformation- testing our endurance and resilience, and reminding us of our capacity for love and compassion. Today as we bring in our first two tons of Dry Creek Zinfandel, we feel the transformative magic of the harvest and honor the bounty of Mother Nature!

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025! It’s hard to believe we will begin bottling the 2024 wines in just a few short months. Yesterday, we tasted through all our barrels in the cellar and are super excited as to how the wines are shaping themselves. We don’t want to jinx it but 2024 looks to be an excellent vintage for Unturned Stone!

With the Equinox behind us and the harvest moon just about run through its cycle, we bring you two new wines for our Fall 2024 release!

2023 Moonwater White, Mendocino County, $30/bottle- A moon powered blend of Chardonnay from the historic Lolonis Vineyard in Redwood Valley and the beautiful biodynamic Vecino Vineyard in Potter Valley. Custard, lime and honey aromatics give way to notes of honeycomb, butterscotch, kiwi and a hint of quinine on the palate. An adult cream soda!

2019 Spider Chase ‘Waterhorse Ridge’ Cabernet, Fort Ross-Seaview, $55/bottle-At 1700 feet in elevation with views of the Pacific Ocean, this 2 acre vineyard was planted in 1997 and is farmed organically with no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The wine carries great depth of fruit and tannin, along with classic notes of fresh herbs, tart cherry and evergreen forest. An excellent candidate for the cellar!
