🍴Friday Meals Are Back🍴

As I’m officially halfway through my treatments, things have become a little more predictable. I still have clients reaching out to me.. including two very sweet ladies who apparently believe that the busier I am, the quicker I’ll get healthy. 😂

So, I’m listening to them.

I’ve been doing some assembling of meals over the last few weeks, and now that I have a better idea of my endurance and what I can realistically handle, I’m going to keep meals to Friday pickup only for now.

I know the fair makes it a little less convenient to drive all the way to my house for pickup, and I truly appreciate every single person who does it anyway. You are spending your time, your gas, and your money to make space for me and for Coen’s Way, and I don’t take that lightly.

So, here we go. ❤️

📖FRIDAY MENU
August 14 and August 21
Serves 4 • Suggested donation $50

*Beef Enchiladas and Creamy Rice
•Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes (gf)
•Potato Soup and Pumpkin Muffins
•Spaghetti Bake and Pepperoni Rolls

🎂SWEETS
$30 for a whole order

•Carrot Cake
Classic, moist carrot cake with all the cream cheese frosting goodness.

•Mississippi Mud Brownies
Rich, fudgy brownies with all messy marshmallow cream goodness, topped with chocolate frosting

•Gooey Lemon Cake
Bright, lemony, buttery and gooey.. basically sunshine in cake form.

•Strawberry Cake
Sweet strawberry cake that tastes like summer decided to show off.

As I usually say, especially for those who are newer here:
These are suggested donations, and 100% of the proceeds benefit Coen’s Way, the nonprofit I started to support families fighting childhood cancer and sarcoma.

You can comment here, text me, or send me a message to order. Payment is made at the time of ordering. And I’ll tell you something else..
While the money goes to Coen’s Way, these meals also support me in a big way.

There are a lot of weeks right now that are pretty dark. Being sick and having very little energy most days is not exactly the life I would have chosen. But when I’m able to get in my kitchen, cook, and spend a little time with clients, it gives me these little pockets of joy! Those small moments that pop up in the middle of a hard season and remind me that I’m still here, still doing something I love, and still connected to people..that means more to me than you probably realize.

So thank you!! for the orders, the well wishes, the prayers, the messages, the encouragement, and for continuing to show up for me and for Coen’s Way over these last two months.

I’m going to keep cooking when I can, resting when I need to, and apparently allowing those two ladies to bully me into staying busy. 😂

Thank you for making room for me. And thank you for making room for Coen’s Way.

Now, who needs dinner? ❤️🎗️

🎄🥧 A Year of Pies 🥧🎄

Because comfort isn’t seasonal.

Every summer, I bring back one of my favorite fundraisers: A Year of Pies.
One homemade pie each month for a full year.

However.. this year looks a little different.

As many of you know, I’m in the middle of treatment, so I can’t promise holiday baking or my usual kitchen schedule this season. But I can promise this: I’ll be back in the kitchen, flour on my shirt and butter on my counter, doing what I love.

So this year’s pie certificates are for next year’s baking season..and EVERY donation made now helps Coen’s Way prepare for the families we’ll serve in the months ahead.

Planning for our programs, especially #12 Days of Coco Christmas, starts long before December ever arrives. Early donations allow me to prepare with intention instead of scrambling at the last minute. They help us say “yes” when families need meals, gift cards, and support during some of life’s hardest moments.

For me, this fundraiser has always been about more than pie.

Everything I do in the way of loving people with food is always about continuing Coen’s story the way he lived it.. with generosity, kindness, and making sure people know they’re not alone.

🥧 Gift Card Options:

Sweet Only
• One homemade dessert each month for one year (12 total)
• Seasonal menu choices each month
• Local delivery included
Suggested donation: $225

Sweet + Savory
• One savory meal or pie plus one dessert each month for one year
• Monthly menu selections sent in advance
• Local delivery included
Suggested donation: $400

Every pie is boxed with care, like I’m delivering it to someone I love.

Gift one to your family, split one with friends, or sponsor someone who’s had a difficult year. Every certificate purchased helps Coen’s Way continue serving families facing childhood cancer.

Thank you for believing in this mission while I take the time to heal. I cannot wait to get back to doing what I love most 🥰 feeding people.

Because every pie tells his story and now my own! 💕💝

And every slice is another way Coen’s love keeps showing up

🇺🇸 Sugar & Spite 🇺🇸
…and everything nice was never really my thing anyway.

To know me is to know sweet has never been the first word anyone reached for.
Sassy? Sure. Stubborn? Absolutely. Fighter? Always.
And right now, I’m running on fire and spite…and browned butter because that’s my muscle memory.

If you’re just now pulling up a chair, welcome. 👋🏻 Here’s the headline:
I have cancer.
God apparently looked at our family’s history: two kids with cancer, one losing his sight, then decided I needed my own line item.

So, here we are.
Spite-ing our way through it, as one does.
While I still can, I’m going to do the things I do. Cook. Feed people. Show up for families fighting the same fight because now I am the patient, and we’ve BEEN that family for more than ten years. Somehow that makes me want to do it more, not less.

📚I also started a book club. It’s called The Breast Sellers. We nerd out over books through text messages while I sit in a chemo chair for four hours every week for the next six months.
You’re welcome to join.

Now…the menu. Because “fight” is the tagline folks love to use for cancer. What they don’t tell you is that fighting has a cover fee and it starts at the reception desk. Scans. Labs. Procedures. Medications. Gas. Time off work. Insurance. The list is endless.

So if you’d like to help me fight and help us keep fighting for other families too, order something delicious.

💙 Monday & Tuesday only..the comfort food❤️

🥣 Potato Soup & Chocolate Chip Scones
🍖 Meatloaf & Mashed Potatoes
Nothing I make is your run of the mill anything. There are entirely unnecessary, highfalutin, chefy steps involved in everything…including the meatloaf. Especially the meatloaf.

🎆 The Sugar & Spite Fourth of July Menu served cold. All ice cream desserts are made in loaf pans and serve 4–6.

🍌 Banana Pudding
🍓 Strawberry Shortcake
❤️ Red Velvet
🔥 S’mores
☕ Coffee Toffee
🍑 Peach Cobbler
💙 Blue Birthday
Every one is layered with homemade goodies: toffee, Nilla crunch, caramelized fruit, caramel, hot fudge…the works.

And because we contain multitudes:

🍫 Mississippi Mud Brownies
🧈 Rice Krispy Treats
🍰 Cheesecake
🥧 Strawberry Pie

Been a long-time listener but a first time caller?
This is your moment. Ask my people. They’ll tell you. The food is worth it

🎗️To help for free: Share this post. Tell a friend. Say my name in a room. Talk about Coco Brown. Pray for our family.

There are so many roads to helping. Pick one.
Anyway…that’s enough vulnerability for one Facebook post.

Let’s get back to the important business of meatloaf and ice cream.

You know those days when somebody hands you terrible news with the ending already attached?
Not a maybe. Not a wait and see…Just the bad part, preloaded.

So while your brain sits there buffering, refusing to load the next screen..
those absurd little things start creeping in around the edges. Some of them are funny (if your sense of humor lives somewhere underground🙋🏼‍♀️)
Some are not funny at all, because of course this is also the day the septic tank stages a full uprising AND a child finds a way to introduce your bumper to someone else’s.

You have to keep pausing your breakdown to go handle logistics. That’s a special kind of whiplash nobody warns you about in parenthood.

And somewhere in the middle of all that chaos, you see a strawberry pie…something in you just goes: yeah. After today, I’m having the pie.

Could I make one myself? Obviously. But there’s a particular kind of mercy in not having to. In letting one small, ridiculous thing hand you sixty seconds of happy before you walk back into whatever fresh disaster is waiting on your porch.

So I bought the pie.
It was a tragedy.
Which, weirdly, felt appropriate.

Store bought crust, the textural equivalent of a shrug. Filling that was less “strawberry” and more “red dye having a moment,” with three actual berries scattered in like a legal requirement and a sprinkle of plausible deniability. Somebody, somewhere, slapped “freshly made” on the label with a completely straight face. Bold. Homemade suddenly felt like a lot to ask of myself that day.

But..I made the stinking pie anyway. Because I’m not a heathen. And because my clients have standards. Y’all were raised right..not going around eating like raccoons in a campsite.

This one’s the real thing, top to bottom. Nothing frozen, thawed, and rebranded as a personality. A toasted graham crust laced with brown sugar and butter till it’s basically a dessert on its own, holding up a thick, jammy strawberry filling that’s bursting with actual fruit, not folklore.

You bring the whipped cream. We’ll call it teamwork. 🤍🍓

Menu is next post down. Orders still open, comment or message me x

📝A quick note for anyone new here, my clients are kind enough to remind me not everyone realizes how this works.
I’ve been cooking and baking from home for a long time. WAY before it was trendy, before everyone had a porch pickup and a Venmo. What started as feeding people I loved turned into catering, weekly meals, desserts, and a customer base that has kept me busier than I probably should admit.

Then I lost my son, Coen, to DSRCT. A kind of Sarcoma.

After Coen, I kept doing what I’d always done..the cooking, the hugging, the delivering, the chatting, the spending money I didn’t always have on families who needed it. But the work doesn’t run on good intentions. It runs on this. On you ordering the chicken casserole. Orders from The Brown Bag.

Now for the easy part. HOW TO ORDER:
• Read the menu.
• Message, text, or comment with the cravings.
• Tell me which pickup day works for you.
• I’ll confirm. I’ll cook. You come get it.

No forms. No apps. No secret handshake. Just real food made by one actual person.

⚠️⛔️‼️Fair warning: I book up fast. If you want something, reach out sooner rather than later. If I’m full that day, I’ll tell you and we’ll figure it out. And
for those who skipped straight to the bottom looking for the menu 👀I see you, and I respect it.

👇🏻 NEXT WEEK’S MENU 👇🏻
🍽 Chicken Enchiladas & Creamy Rice
🍽 Breakfast for Dinner
A big ol’ breakfast pot pie loaded with eggs, sausage gravy, and cheese. Served with fruit salad.
🍽 Meatloaf & Mac (or mashed potatoes if that’s your love language)

SWEETS:
🥧 Key Lime Pie with a white chocolate pretzel crust
🍪 Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwiches with icing in the middle.
🍓 Fresh Strawberry Pies
These sold out last week..but coconut available too. And a vanilla bean cheesecake with an Oreo crust

And a little known fact…
You know you can just ask, right?

If there’s something you’re craving, a dessert you’ve been thinking about, a meal you need for company, a birthday, a sick friend, a new baby, a rough week, or you simply don’t feel like cooking… ask!! If I can make it, I will.

Bad news is loud right now. For me and others. Life is life-ing hard.

This is the part where I remind you that a good meal fixes exactly none of that and also kind of does.

Orders open this next week. Let’s do something about it.

Love,
Your baker, cook, gravy maker, dessert dealer, occasional therapist, and CEO
