We spent the weekend at the Udder Spectacular at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. Our daughter earned Champion Intermediate showmanship on Friday night and I couldn’t be more proud of how far she has come. She did an amazing job showing goats all weekend, both her own and for other people.

Tangled-Willow Sweet Layla, our first homegrown Nubian to compete in the show ring, earned 2nd place in a competitive class of 15 yearlings.

My-Enchanted-Acres LovinLenore placed 5th in a competitive class of 16 two-year-olds.

My-Enchanted-Acres RollTheDice placed first in her class of 4 year olds. Our daughter did an amazing job showing her and they make a great team.

It was wonderful to see all of our goat friends and a HUGE thank you to our dear friend and mentor, Kim Puzio, for all the help and for always cheering us on. 💗

We have been a bit quiet on here lately. But we have been hard at work preparing for kidding and calving season!

We have eight Nubian goats kidding this year. Last summer we purchased a custom goat milking stanchion to streamline things and have been practicing with the girls so they know which spot is theirs. It is exciting to see some first freshener udders already starting to bag up!

We are also working on getting hot water set up in the barn to streamline our washing process for milking and feeding equipment. It will be so nice to not have to haul everything back and forth to the house. The commercial sink was a FB marketplace score!

Construction on our covered manure bins is moving right along. Living so close to the Samish River, these bins will largely prevent manure from contaminating our waterways and will make the composting process more efficient.

Finally, I’m posting a photo of our Nubian herd for cuteness factor. Their adorable ears and doglike personalities make this season something that we look forward to all year long — despite the mud and cold. Spring and new beginnings are on the way! 🌿

P.S. Go Hawks!! 💙💚

Happy New Year! We are excited for all that is to come in 2026.

We have a full docket of purebred ADGA Nubians due to kid in March. This is especially exciting as we transitioned our herd last year and decided to focus on one breed. We are looking forward to traveling for more shows this year and will be participating in DHIR milk testing.

We also have several Jersey cows due with purebred calves — hopefully heifers. Keep us in mind if you’re looking for your next backyard milk cow or 4-H project.

We are also hoping for Duroc X piglets in the next few months, although they will be later than anticipated. We still plan to have fall pork shares available if all goes as planned.

We will still have goslings and hatching eggs available from our flock of colored Sebastopol geese in April or so. I am planning to ship some hatching eggs once fertility is confirmed, but will be prioritizing hatching goslings for local pick up.

Our goals for this year include upgrading our pig area for the winter months and expanding our hay storage areas as our dairy herds grow. We are also adding a large covered manure storage area as soon as the weather improves and things aren’t as wet.

There is much to look forward to and much to be thankful for! What farm dreams or goals are you excited for in 2026?
