Whew! 6 lbs of tomatoes...2 pints of diced, 6 pints of stewed tomatoes with fresh basil, 1/2 pint of tomato paste (made from the skins and seeds), and the leftover tomatoes went into a cucumber salad!

Out doing the animals this morning and the quail are still so jumpy, literally! I thought...music always calms me down, so I turned on some Jimmy Buffett and instant calm. They actually looked up at the phone and no more jumping. So, we have quail who have discerning tastes in music!

Are you getting ready for Christmas?? The Old Goat Homestead has gift packages available for all those "hard-to-buy for" individuals. Below are the two choices...we have cute Christmas boxes where you can choose four flavors of jellies/jams ($30.00) and then a little Texas-themed box with one flavor of jelly/jam ($10.00). We can ship but that cost will be additional. Please PM me for the list of jellies/jams that are available. If you would like just the jelly/jam, we can do that too!

Everyone made it through the night ok! Don't tell Art that I had our son go down there at 2:30 a.m. when he got home to check on everyone! LOL Nervous goat, chicken, and duck mommy. We have some new Brahma chickens...about 2.5 months old and we have had them separated at night from the other chickens. Yesterday evening, they trotted up the stairs and went in the big chicken coop. Cold weather will outweigh fear any day! Have a great fall day everyone!

Boy, were we surprised with this cold front! Had to make sure all the boy goats were bedded down and in their little cabin. Chickens liked this cooler weather and pitched a fit about going into their house. Ducks just wanted their worms and they finally hushed. Been working on trying to get the produce that is coming in either canned, dehydrated, frozen, etc! For the last three years, my hands were tired from taking notes in law school...now the pain comes from cutting up okra and peppers! Lol.

Hey, everyone! Finally got the page done/started. This will be a place where we will show the happenings on the homestead, market our produce and jellies, and just have a place to connect with everyone. When covid hit and law school became virtual, we decided that we had some time to do things around our land that we didn't have time to do before. Well, as with anything we do, it has "blossomed" into so much more. Even though we are both hard-working, active realtors, we enjoy working with the land and allowing it to produce food for us and others. Now, onto more farm fun!
