Happy Friday, y’all. In between brief showers, Tang and I hung out and cut flowers at Edie Cassell with our dear friend Edie Cassell. Soooo pretty and absolutely lush this year with all our El Niño rains. 🥰🌸🐝

I have lots of pretty things for pressing tomorrow and there’s room in class if you’d like to join us. You can RT register online or message me for a link. The class comes with a sweet little flower press. 🌻

We are enjoying the flavors of this oat bran and whole wheat loaf I just baked today. Thank you Susan Danuff-Cohen for your wonderful recipes!

I’ve been baking breads for dad for about a month now and I’m so thrilled he likes it! Tonight he sampled a jalapeño cheddar he actually requested and we talked about other flavors he’d like to try. I’m happy he’s ready to try it all with us. I do need to make sure they’re soft enough for him to enjoy.

After dinner we also talked about slow fermentation and the sourdough process and starter and being the chemist he has been most of his life, he pondered the chemical process of sourdough and we both really enjoyed the connection between his world of chemistry and my world of sourdough. It was wonderful. He was a chem professor for 49 years at UT-Austin!

There’s gonna be a whole lot more fishing days for our brother come July 1. Don’t forget we are taking our first SUMMER ...

After a day full of people and mostly indoors, Mark and I really enjoy our post dinner walks. The sounds of nature seems to refresh us despite the heavy mugginess and heat.

These flowers were donated to see if I can do something with them for nursing home residences. It’s my first batch so I’m looking at condition of flowers (pretty beat up but still some are salvageable) and pondering ideas - make smaller arrangements? Press and make art for them? How much will projects cost since we are paying for this ourselves? Things to think about…see why we need summer break? So many projects!
