WE had a great weekend. Cooked Hobo Fest in Kirby. 3rd brisket, 5th ribs and 6th chicken. Good enough for GC. Congrats to Kevin Knight for RGC and all other walkers.

So Meridian is in the books and it was fun but no walks this year. I did manage a 15th in brisket final table. So lets see how I did with my goals this year. they were:

1. Win grand at a sanctioned event - check. 3 in fact

2. Win first place in beans Check.

3. Win first place in brisket Check

4. Walk all 3 meats at Meridian nope. but that is rarely done

5. Qualify for the Royal ( and go) Check. well, we didn't go but we did qualify

So, not to bad. really. I am done for the year. Next cook will be the COTY in Burnet in January.

WOW! Really proud of Teresa. She was reserve grand champ at the Guadalupe County Fair BBQ cook off yesterday. 9th in chicken, 2nd in ribs and 4th in brisket. She was tied for GC buy lost tie breaker to David Goerke. For those that may be thinking that she is just cooking the same recipes that I have your WRONG! She is cooking different food and doing very well. Look for her bbq page soon, Crazy redheaded cooker. Congrats also to David Goerke for GC

With all the success that our BBQ buds had at SA rodeo yesterday, Makes my 3rd Ribs at Burnet seem irrelevant, but I did get one of the coveted mini BBQ Smoker trophy's. Also got 6 COTY points. Tied for 3rd now. Was really hoping to walk beans but there were 61 bean entry's. 89 teams all together and muddy to boot. Had a good time. Paid well also.

So as I continue the Lone Star BBQ Society points chase, I went to Bandera this weekend instead of the Schertz Fest. No rain on Saturday so it started to dry out and get sunny which made it much more enjoyable. Was set up next to Hogwild cookers from the Houston area. Really fun group. I was lucky enough to walk 3rd chicken, 3rd ribs, 2nd Brisket and 5th beans for Grand Champion. Congrats to Texas Poker Smokers for their walks and to all the others that walked.

4 more weekends and this points year will come to and end. Then on to Meridian with Crazy Red Headed cooker and then we will be taking a break for a while.

Really proud of Teresa Amaral Edmondson. She cooked at the SchertzFest cook off yesterday and was 7th in beans and 7th in ribs. The were 65 teams and many of the top cookers in the state were there. This was only her 3rd time cooking as Crazy Read Headed cooker. Thanks to my cousin Bill Edmondson for being her "pit bitch".

Congrats to Jan Jan Ewens Canterbury for GC and to Monte Brown for RGC and to Darwin Hoel who was 3rd overall. Also congrats to everyone else who walked and or final tabled. As tough as the competition was, FT was a big deal.

Had a great day at the Cooper Farm Cookoff in Ledbetter today. Managed a 7th in Beans, 3rd Chicken, 3rd Ribs, 3rd Pulled Pork, 1st Brisket ... good enough for Grand Champion!! Congrats to Teresa Edmondson of Crazy Redheaded Cooker on her first ever Reserve Grand Champion and to everyone that walked today
