I think we’re officially going 100% fresh milled!
Attempted my first loaf today with red wheat freshly milled as my only flour source. I’m truly so impressed with this loaf and ready to share the nutrients with you!
Did you know?
The flour many of us buy at the store today is not the same flour people ate for thousands of years.
During modern processing, parts of the wheat berry that contain valuable nutrients are removed to extend shelf life. Some nutrients are later added back in, but it isn’t the same as eating the whole grain the way God created it.
Fresh-milled flour contains the entire wheat berry: bran, germ, and endosperm. Once wheat is milled, nutrients and natural oils begin to break down, which is why many fresh millers use it quickly or store it in the freezer.
The Bible says, “Give us this day our daily bread.” Bread was a daily food for much of human history. Families grew grain, milled it fresh, and baked bread regularly.
Today, bread has become one of the most feared foods, yet many cultures around the world still eat bread every day. They don’t bloat? Most of them are slim! People report coming back from Europe feeling lighter! Maybe the problem isn’t bread itself. Maybe it’s how far we’ve moved from traditional food and the way it was originally prepared.
This loaf is made with 100% fresh-milled red wheat berries and sourdough fermentation just wheat, water, salt, and time. 🌾🍞
