We shot catalog pictures a month ago. Hard to believe it's the same set of colts. They fill out fast this time of year on good grass and a mare that's milking.

We start a little grain out in the pasture this time of year. Not much. Just enough that when they get to their new home, they take to grain easy and come off milk without a fight.

Same reason we get a halter on them. Same reason they spend time away from their mamas before they ever load out. Same reason they’re handled. We’d rather they learn it here, from us, than have every bit of it be brand new the week they leave.

Not everything will be easy on a weanling. But some of it can.
