Today is a big day & a huge highlight for us! We have worked so hard for a month straight on this amazing sheep barn!
And late yesterday we finally finished!
We got the beautiful Cob Sheep Sculpted up on the Barn & did another coat of plaster just in time to say goodbye to Chris as he heads home to Los Angeles today!
Chris is our friend and natural building teacher from California. Because of him we were able to create this magical barn! We will miss him soooo much! But he will back soon for our public training coming up in June!
We are also grateful for our friends Katie & James for working on this special project us! (Love having you guys here)!
And a special thank you for James hearing my vision for the cob sheep and using his Artist talents to draw them up on the wall!🙏🐑🙏
This barn will be predominantly used for lambing and milking the sheep. So I wanted the female sheep to be represented in the art.
I also wanted the sheep to look like our Navajo Churro Sheep that we raise & love!💘
The Navajo Churro Sheep are one of the very few domesticated breeds that the female could grow horns. But not all females do - so we gave horns to the Grandmother Sheep and to the Ewe Lamb but not the Mother to reflect this trait.
ALL breeds of wild sheep (male & female) have horns - but most domesticated female sheep do NOT. So we love that Churro has still managed to carry this trait on regardless of domestication.
Once we get the fencing up we will move the flock over! And we will also be welcoming our new herd of Merino sheep to the farm in May!
I will be sharing more videos of the process soon.
But this barn is one of my all time favorite accomplishments ever! Definitely a life changing experience!
Pls join us for a natural building training June 17th-23rd!
