A first for our farmette - raising and processing turkeys. I can’t wait for the result on Thanksgiving day! I’d rather know where my food comes from and feel good about it than be “ignorance is bliss” who else is with me?! 🙋🏼‍♀️ drop a 🦃 below if you want in on this next year so we can plan ahead!

Cabbage coming from my ears!

First time using the vacuum sealer!! Vacuum sealing for freezer storage of cabbage bought at the farmers market from a local farm. I grew some this year but they’re so small and will probably use in a recipe soon but wanted some for the whole year. I guess I better get to pinteresting recipes that have cabbage in it this year 🤣

Some chicken updates: Our broody mamas working together to keep a big clutch of eggs warm for 21 days! About halfway through all our eggs disappeared…not sure what predator came and took 1-2 eggs at a time but we never saw evidence of one other than missing eggs. Sadly, no new chicks hatched from these broody mamas on our farm, but a few went to a friends farm and are doing well. We also just lost our main rooster to a predator and have one bantam (tiny) rooster left who has 15+ hens all to himself. If we hatch any more eggs, they’ll all be bantams aka really small!!! Have had a huge predator problem this summer and struggle with letting them be free-range but more at risk…

The ladies are back at it after the short days during winter! ☀️Come get your farm fresh, pasture-raised chicken & ducks eggs from our egg stand with a taste and quality like no other! 🐓🦆

Our “rainbow” 🌈eggs will be out daily unless we run out, which right now isn’t looking like an issue. Message for special requests, otherwise each dozen will include a few duck eggs (labeled like the picture) & chicken eggs. Can do half dozen, dozen or a flat (30).

All 💲 goes right back into our chickens feed bill and purchasing cartons. Returning cartons is encouraged and feel free to drop off your kitchen scraps after a fridge clean up too, the chickens will thank you ♻️

Reminder: eggs are unwashed and thus don’t need to be refrigerated due to not removing the protective coating on the outside. They are shelf-stable for a few months, just wash them before use 😊 (some people still put in the fridge for organization).

Farm updates: it’s hot out & the weeds are out of control, Rip was neutered, new fences are coming up to extend pasture space, some garden upgrades were made from mulch to pea gravel, and the two chicks that hatched are growing fast!

I just love this picture captured on the farm💛 sharing a moment with my best friend and her nephew and Sid who of course is just loving the attention…🐐👶🏼

We love when friends and family come visit, this is how they grow & learn🌱✨they don’t stop talking about their adventure with Aunt Gabby & Uncle Wags for days, and a highlight is always going home with fresh eggs. My niece Luci apparently slept with her egg for days before it cracked 🤣

But I feel like this picture also makes me realize I need to cherish these moments more, stop and smell the roses..something that I’ve ignored for a long time just trying to achieve the next goal…while the weather cools, I hope to slow down and learn to find peace and joy in everything I do🌹
