The extreme drought we are in has significantly affected the hay yield, but it was nice to get some seat time again!

We are set up at the Dillon County Farmers market this afternoon 4pm to 7pm!

Come grab a carton or two of eggs, or some Mosher Farms swag!

One day... This is one day of egg collection!

People always find it hard to believe that we have a thousand chickens and 60 dozen eggs a day. Because lets be honest, who does that? 😂

We do ✋

If you need some eggs or want to try them for the first time let us know!

Today marks one year of Nick farming full time, and what a year it was!

We'll be honest in saying that we knew it was going to be hard, but it was far more challenging than we anticipated!

Changed feed and lost 1/3 of our flock
Lost a large wholesale customer
Broke a haybine
Broke a disc mower
Stuck the F-350 in a hay field
Predator attacks - owls, dogs, possums and then some.
Financial struggles

Which all led to Nick sitting in church one Sunday crying wondering if this is what he should be doing.

But, we pushed through that moment and kept grinding. Sometimes the negative can feel overwhelming, but there were some great highlights too!

Started raising two new flocks a year
Gained two new wholesale customers
Increased our family time dramatically!!
Got married
Installed 1/4 of our new fencing for rotational grazing
Sold out of our first hay harvest
Switched to bulk feed
Overhauled an Allis Chalmer tractor
Moved our garden to the front yard

We go into this next year, after being in recovery mode for so long, hopeful and excited to see what this year brings us!

This life is not for everyone, but we know it's for us. So, we'll keep doing everything we can to make it work, and continuously learn and adapt along the way.

Thanks for being on the journey with us 💚

The reward for chicken chores in the rain?
A beautiful double rainbow... you can't really see the second one here but I promise it was there.

This is one of the brightest I've seen in a while! Amazing what God creates.

Nick spent the day replacing a Nylon bearing on the PTO shaft of our haybine today!

Working the farm full time actually gives him time for equipment maintenance before it's time to cut the hay fields.

It feels nice to get ahead on things like this!

Happy National Ag Day from Mosher Farms!

We're grateful to be a part of this community, even when we don't have the look of a typical farmer.

This job never sleeps. It never stops. Not for holidays or emergencies. The animals have to be taken care of. The eggs have to be collected and delivered.

It's a hard job, but a rewarding one.

This week has been such a blessing to us!

We're extremely grateful to do what we do, and to be able to build this life for our family.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support us on this journey 💗

The Bermuda grass is officially greening up after the burn!

It's exciting to see the work Nick's putting in paying off, and hopefully leading towards a better hay crop this year.

I was talking to a customer one day about how we have chickens that lay green and blue eggs, and he was so excited at the idea because he's never seen one!

Today I packed two special cartons, just for him, full of green eggs!

I love playing with the color patterns in our dozens, so if you ever open a carton and think "hm that's pretty"... Thank you 😂🥚💚
