🍇 We recently had the privilege of visiting the legendary Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in Turckheim, Alsace, where we were warmly welcomed by Pierre-Émile Humbrecht, who today runs the estate alongside his father, the renowned Olivier Humbrecht MW—one of the very first French winemakers to earn the prestigious Master of Wine title.
🏰 During our visit, Pierre-Émile guided us through the history of this iconic domaine, whose roots date back to 1620, with more than 12 generations of winemaking tradition in Alsace. Today, Domaine Zind-Humbrecht stands as one of the absolute benchmarks of the region, celebrated worldwide for its biodynamic philosophy and its profound expression of terroir.
🌿 We then headed into the vineyards, including their spectacular Grand Cru sites, where we discussed in depth the climate, soils, steep slopes, and strict viticultural rules that govern these revered appellations. It was a masterclass on how geology, exposure, and biodiversity shape the identity of each wine.
🍷 The experience concluded with an unforgettable tasting, featuring several of their remarkable wines, including a stunning Vendanges Tardives (late harvest) and an extraordinary Sélection de Grains Nobles, crafted from botrytized grapes—pure liquid gold and a perfect expression of Alsace’s noble sweet-wine tradition.
