​Recently, I visited the Richland distilling site to purchase two distinct expressions for a discerning friend from the Westcoast. The experience was as refined as the spirit itself.

​The Gold Label (Classic Reserve) remains a benchmark for the "Georgia Spirit," offering a beautifully balanced profile of wild honey and charred oak. It is a pure representation of their copper pot distillation. In contrast, the Port Cask Exchange (Chateau Elan) provides a sophisticated evolution; the time spent in French oak port pipes introduces a deep complexity, layering notes of dried stone fruit and a velvety, vinous finish over the robust rum base.

​The staff’s expertise regarding their inventories' maturation, and the nuances of the labeling system made the selection process a delight.

Whether enjoyed neat or with a single drop of water to "open up" the bouquet, these are bottles that demand a seat at the top shelf.

As a token of my friend's appreciation, we're waiting for our schedules to align to finally pour, toast (virtually), and enjoy this incredible rum!

Richland is producing world-class spirits that honor their estate roots–which is equally brilliant for casual sipping or a curated collection.

This is a truly distinguished spirit that I highly recommend!
