Now that the shock of Dollys passing has settled a little and I have had time to sit back, reflect and watch countless memories of her pop up on every platform out there, I cant help but think of the story of Joseph from the Old Testament.
Now hear me out, I am definitely not comparing Dolly to Joseph BUT I am comparing God to God. I cant help but think about how God was able to put Joseph in a position where he was able and willing to save his family, the Isrealites, from starvation.
Then similarly, God also took this spunky little girl from the backwoods of East TN, who grew up in the middle of nowhere and gave her a gift of music and a gift of generosity so that one day she could use those gifts to take care of not only her own immediate family but all of the families here in Sevier County and beyond.
She was kind, generous and had a huge heart for her people, thats all of us in Sevier County, for those who don't know. But she didn't stop there, she had a heart for all people and in several interviews she credited God for blessing her so that she could bless others and give back. I know she was not perfect but can we, as Christians, give that same testimony? Maybe yes, maybe no?
I think of my hometown and do not know where we would be without God's provisions. We are, after all a major tourist town and most of us wouldn't have what we have today without this spunky little girl from E TN. She used what God gave her and out of his over abundant provisions, and her willingness to listened to His voice, she turned her many blessings into our many blessings.
We will definitely miss you Dolly and we will always remember your generous spirit, kind heart, giving nature and we will be eternally grateful you answered the voice of God to help save and support your little hometown in Sevier County TN.
