Went down to Graniteville to see our friends and pick up the lathing for the Messer Barn restoration. Had a great time with those fine folks, as usual. Thanks for the collaboration on this project.

Knocking out some 4”x6”’s for the Messer Barn restoration in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Couldn’t get it all done without all the great help, . Looking forward to seeing the end product when they come visit.

Next time y’all visit the Smoky Mountain National Park, specifically the John & Lucretia Oliver Cabin, in Cades Cove, you’ll be walking on a porch we were happy to be a part of restoring. We were honored to saw some 5/4 white oak lumber to repair the old one.

It’s hard to beat that white oak for strength and durability.

Evening folks. Hope everybody had a great weekend. We sure did. Drove down to Graniteville, South Carolina to visit our friends at Fields Sawmill.

We were contracted to supply the timbers and lumber to rebuild the old Messer barn in the Greenbrier area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Due to the relatively short time frame and wet weather of the winter months it’s hard for the loggers to get us what we needed on short notice. That’s not a problem when you know just who to call for help. The Fields family visit our area and the Park often. We’re honored to have their help restoring a piece of history that will be enjoyed by visitors for years to come.

It was great to finally see their operation in person, talk shop, break bread, and fellowship at their place. Nia spoiled us with a great dinner!

We’ll post pics of the sawing, the timber framing, delivery, and eventually the restored barn.

I have to share something with y’all. We’ve all heard the term “God, works in mysterious ways” at least once or twice in our lives. I’ve had those moments but I have to stop and take a moment to say He showed up and showed out recently for me. Without going into a long story……..those of you who know me are saying “Thank you, Jesus!” If you said ,“Amen” just now you should be ashamed. 😂

The folks in these pictures came into our lives recently and have been such a blessing! Thank you Father for them. Thank you Rico and Karmi for allowing us to be a part of your special days. We love y’all!
