Our guardian dog Dexter in last nights sunset. Dexter is just a tad over a year old and has adjusted very well to being with both sheep and cows. We are very proud of the job he does. The main thing with keeping this dog effective, is the understanding “This is not a pet!” He is fed by me and one other, he gets close but doesn’t touch. He views everything as an intruder and potential threat. Barks loud and mean…and thats good.

He is smart as a whip and regularly returns things to me I’ve lost, he also will come and get me if the sheep are out. So if you pass out this way and see him in the field he will bark at you. He don’t mean nothin by it, just dont try to cross the fence.

Mutton Honey?

Do you like mutton? I have three large khatadin wethers that must go! These were kept as attendants for our ram. Age is approximately 2 1/2 years, all grass, no meds, about as clean as they come. Be a shame to send them to the sale barn when I can make you a heckuva deal on all-natural grass fed meat.

Pick up is on the farm, I don’t guess weights, but will ask a flat price. PM me for details, below are 2 of the 3. The other one is larger.

Sent to Norwood for Saturdays sale!

Big Roger is available to make a lasting impact on your flock.

He is a registered khatadin, (I have the paperwork) and successfully covered 31 last winter and 55 this fall. He is broke to electric and was easily kept from July-November with two attendants (castrated wethers), supplemented with alfalfa pellets. Naturally prolific and hearty, he was only wormed when we bought him. He is great for a small flock, very easy-handling and non aggressive, he is ready to go to work. This could be the ram to take your flock to the next level. I would love to see a new shepherd who is building up their flock get him.

Serious inquiries only, PM us to invest today!
Price is firm.
We expect to move them through the pen area over the next few weeks, pick up will be arranged on farm or we can arrange hauling for a fee.

The flerd is eating hay, and has been since Labor Day. While expensive, this is an excellent opportunity to really lay down some fertility. I’ve basically mulched somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 acres.
Then come the chickens. They not only add more nitrogen to the mix, they stir up the clumps of hay for forage and bugs. This field has a broomsedge issue but has plenty of cool season grasses we are looking to bulk up. We will see what it looks like in May.
