Ovina Holsteins is a first-generation farm located in northeastern Wisconsin. Currently, there are 45 cows and approximately 30 heifers that are raised on pasture. The adult cows are also grazed during the warm months.
The milk is shipped to Red Barn, a company that emphasizes the importance of keeping the small Wisconsin dairy heritage alive. Red Barn requires the cows to be known by name, housed comfortably, and be allowed access to the outdoors, among other things.
I think that transparency of the dairy industry is very important.
People want to know how their food is being produced and where it is coming from, and I believe it’s our job as agriculturalists to provide the answers to those types of questions.
