🐄🌻 VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Dirty Dog Farm 🌻🐓

Well…we’ve been spotlighting our wonderful vendors, so we figured it was finally time to introduce ourselves! ❤️

Dirty Dog Farm is our family farm right here in Shady Spring, WV, and it’s also home to the coordinator behind our farmers market!

Our farm has been in the family for generations, and today our children are the 5th generation to live here. There’s something incredibly special about raising our kids on the same land where generations of our family have lived, worked, and made memories before us.

One of the best parts? We get to do it right next to my (Caryn) parents. ❤️

Living close to them and watching our children become young adults with their grandparents nearby is something we don’t take for granted. This farm isn’t just where we grow food or raise animals—it’s home, and it’s a piece of our family’s story.

🌱 This weekend, Dirty Dog Farm will be bringing:
🥒 Cucumbers
💛 Squash
🫘 Fresh beans
🍅 Green tomatoes
🥚 Farm-fresh eggs
🍯 Honey
🌿 Seasonings

And you don’t have to wait for market day to shop with us! We also have a self-serve farm stand that’s open daily, where you’ll find different farm-fresh items as they’re available throughout the season.

Hosting and coordinating the farmers market has become another chapter in our farm’s story. What started as a way to bring local products to our community has also given us the opportunity to meet some incredibly talented farmers, bakers, makers, and small-business owners—and introduce all of you to them!

We love seeing people come out on Saturday mornings, visit with their neighbors, meet the people who grow and make their food, and support small local businesses. ❤️

We’re excited about what this little market is becoming, and we’re even more excited about where it can go from here.

So when you visit the market this weekend, stop by and say hello to us at Dirty Dog Farm! 🐄🐓🌻

Thank you for supporting our farm, our vendors, and this little community we’re building together.

Vendor Spotlight!

Buckland Family Farm & Appalachian Cottage School
Tell us a little about your business:
Buckland Family Farm is our small hobby farm where we grow seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers and make a variety of farm-inspired goods. Just over two years ago, our farm also became home to Appalachian Cottage School (ACS), where we provide academic instruction and educational experiences rooted in the liberal arts with a focus on agriculture.
Where are you located?
We’re located in Egeria, just down from Blueberry Hill.
What are a few items you will be bringing this weekend?
This weekend we’ll have plenty of what late summer is giving us—fresh tomatoes and peppers, sweet corn, ground cherries, pumpkins, and fresh-cut flower bouquets. We’ll also have original artwork by our 9-year-old, Easton, along with a selection of handmade goods from the farm, including our small-batch infused balms.
What is your favorite item to make or eat?
Making bouquets this year has been so much fun! And our entire crew loves freshly picked corn on the cob.
How did you get started?
We are wrapping up our 14th growing season here at Buckland Family Farm. It all started pretty naturally from our family’s love of growing things, raising animals, making things by hand, and learning to use what we have right here at home.
We also just began our 20th year of homeschooling, so learning by doing has been part of our family culture for a long time. Over the years, our desire to curate a space that fosters confidence and curiosity in children eventually led us to open our farm to other families through Appalachian Cottage School.
Do you take custom orders?
Yes! Depending on what is in season and available, we’re happy to talk about custom orders—and we’re also open to creating experiences for field trips, birthday parties, photo shoots, and other special occasions.
Earlier this summer, we canned more than sixty 4-ounce jars of homemade apple butter and strawberry jam for our son’s wedding favors. Being able to take the things we grow and make here and create something special for another family or event is something we’d love to do more of in our community.
Do you have socials we can share?
Our Buckland Family Farm social media page is coming soon! For now, you can follow me, Jamie Buckland, and Appalachian Cottage School to see what we’re up to.
What is one fun fact about your business?
We moved here in 2013 because our eldest, like his father, only ever wanted to be outside, and his younger sister had never met a living thing she didn’t want to interact with. They grew up exploring and soaking in everything this farm had to offer.
Our third-born takes after her mother and has absolutely no interest in animals. Our youngest, who has Level 2 autism and ADHD, faces his own challenges with being comfortable outdoors and would happily spend his entire life inside on a device if we let him.
Our family is proof that navigating “greener grass” is a battle many families face—and that not every personality is naturally drawn to the homesteading life.

Anything else you’d like to add?

We are so, so thankful for Caryn and Dirty Dog Farm for investing in our community through this market. Start-ups are hard, but we truly believe starting something in southern Appalachia can be even harder. It takes people willing to take a risk, do the work, and keep showing up while a community decides whether it will show up with them.
We are very hopeful our community will continue to respond to all the work Caryn is doing to create this opportunity for our area.

🌾🍞 VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Flour Patch 🍞🌾

Our next vendor spotlight is Flour Patch, a small home-based artisan bakery from Midway, WV!

Flour Patch began simply—with a wife and mom baking sourdough at home for her husband and toddlers. ❤️ She fell in love with the process, and what started as something she enjoyed making for her family slowly grew into Flour Patch!

Today, she makes everything in small batches with lots of love, including artisan sourdough breads, cinnamon rolls, pepperoni rolls, homemade jams, cookies, and more.

🛍️ This weekend, look for:
🍞 Sourdough loaves
🍪 Brown butter chocolate chip cookies
🤎 Cinnamon rolls
🥖 Pepperoni rolls
🍓 Homemade jams
✨ PLUS a few fun new flavors!

And about those “new flavors”…there’s a good chance you’ll see something different each time you visit! She says her menu is always changing because she’s constantly dreaming up new flavor combinations.

Her personal favorite? Chocolate chip cookies! 🍪 (We’re starting to notice our bakers have a very important commitment to cookie quality control.

Flour Patch also accepts custom orders, so if you try something you love this weekend, you don’t necessarily have to wait until the next market to get it again!

💬 From Flour Patch:

“I’m so grateful for everyone who supports my little home bakery. Every order, share, and kind word means so much to me, and I’m excited to see everyone this weekend!”

Vendor Spotlight!

MÜV+Her Protein Bars

MÜV+Her is a women-founded protein bar company. Our bars are made with simple, high quality ingredients with 20g of protein, 10g of fiber, and only 3g of sugar. Without gluten, dairy, soy, seed oils, or artificial sweeteners. We wanted to create a protein bar that tastes good, fuels you well, and has an ingredient list you can actually feel good about.

We are located in Shady Spring. No physical store front but you can visit us online at muvbars.com

This weekend we’ll have both of our protein bar flavors, Peanut Butter Chip and Double Dark Chocolate, available to purchase. Peanut Butter Chip is a perfect everyday snack, while Double Dark Chocolate is very indulgent.

MÜV+Her started because we were frustrated with the protein bar market. We wanted something high in protein that used quality ingredients, tasted great, and didn’t come with a long list of things we didn’t want. When we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for, we decided to create it ourselves.

You can order directly from our website, and we offer subscriptions for anyone who wants to keep their favorites stocked!

You can find us on Instagram , Facebook at MÜV+Her Protein Bars, and visit us online at muvbars.com.

We’re not just business partners, we’re sisters-in-law! MÜV+Her was built by family, which makes growing this business together even more special.

We absolutely love getting to meet people in person and seeing their reactions when they taste our bars, so please stop by and say hi!

Whether you’re looking for a post-workout option, an afternoon snack, or something easy to throw in your bag for a busy day, we’d love for you to give MÜV+Her a try.

Discover MÜV+Her egg white protein bars made for women. 20g bioavailable protein, 3g sugar, no whey, no bloat. Organic ingredients, gluten/dairy/seed oil free, plus L-Theanine, Glutamine & more for energy, focus & recovery.
