Walking around today, still lots of blooms. It was chilly in the morning, there was a Bumblebee on my car. I touched it with my fingertip and it flew away.

It’s been a busy few weeks. All three of Imagine’s kids were horned, we were hoping for a couple of polled kids.

At three weeks old Georgie’s Girl is topping 5 lbs, so she is gaining well. Imagine has been slow to recover after kidding. This will be her last breeding. She will remain on the farm in her grand dam role. I’m hoping to keep one of her buck kids as a buck, but I really need to downsize my buck population . They are both beautiful looking little guys.

Our corn is coming up, we will plant beans in our Three Sister mounds this weekend. Ideally, the corn should be about 5” tall. We have buds on the egg plant, hot peppers on one of the pepper plants, and lots of tomato blossoms. yje broccoli and cauliflower are getting large. The garlic and herbs look great. We strive to get a little better each year.

Kevin installed the solar light toppers to ghe fence posts. They looked so pretty last night.

Today, I hope to get a bit more weeding done and the
storage area for my canning supplies organized.

We weighed the kids today, 24 hours after birth. The tiny gold doe is 2 1/4 lbs, the flashy buckskin is 4 1/4 lb, and the buckskin is 4 1/2 lbs. imagine is managing them well, she pushes the tiny doe ahead of the boys to eat. We will check the weights to make sure they are all gaining. They are all pretty sturdy and moving about well.

Strawberry scones s what is happening for breakfast this morning. I woke up earlier than usual, and when I reached for my usual Vanilla Skyr and fruit, I remembered that I had wanted to use some in muffins. When I was looking for a muffin recipe, I instead came across Strawberry scones on Pinterest. Who doesn’t love a good scone? Delicious!

Last year I added a ground cover to our front lawn . It is meant to attract pollinators. We have Scarlett strawberries, Asters, and some tiny pansies. Creeping Thyme is fragrant when you walk through the area.

We hit 81 degrees here today. It’s a beautiful sunny day. Kevin has been working on taking down the dog fence, we are hoping to reuse this fencing to fence the large garden.

I planted broccoli and cauliflower, purple basil, lavender, and some chives. The beets, onions and carrots are coming up in one of the raised beds. Garlic and potatoes in two other beds.

The peonies are full of buds, daffodils, violets and periwinkle plants are all in bloom.

I opened the fence to let the dogs into the expanded area. We will be expanding the garden area a bit in the next few weeks.

The dogs haven’t figured out that the guineas are not supposed to be here yet. I guess my next hope is they don’t try to breach the doggie door.

We have changed our farm name. We are doing some changes around here, including transitioning into nubians and mini nubians. We will still have Nigerian Dwarf goats and our herd name for those will remain Capri Cairn . The nubians and mini nubians will be registered as Stony Acres.

Kevin has been busy putting in new backyard fencing. We are expanding our fencing in the backyard to include our raised beds. The hope is that the dogs will keep wild animals from eating our tomatoes again this year, as well as keeping the Guinea fowl and chickens out.. Time will tell how that will work out.
