This week your feeds will be flooded with all of the fun back to school photos as the kids in this area start their 2026-2027 school year. But for us, back to school means less time at the farm for the kids who get to call Stone House Farm “home.” Our farm kids have a hard time going back to school each year and it can be a little hard for us to watch them go after seeing all of their growth over the summer months.
The youngest grandkid, Mason, continues to be our “numbers guy” and we know he will still keep checking in here each day to keep up with his computer work and reporting on who is the top producer each day.
Kaden showed increased interest in field work this summer and embraced his role there so he is already talking about what work he can get done on the tractor as soon as school gets out at 3:00 everyday.
Unfortunately, Maya has had to learn the tough parts of farming this summer. She lost a couple very valuable cows who were very important to our herd, and she took it hard. But her love for cows and eagerness to keep growing her own herd has not disappeared and she is learning to ride the waves of this challenging industry.
Bella continues to have a strong love for horses and has been able to pick up work on local horse farms and keep up with riding lessons.
And we can’t forget Collin, who became Grampy’s right hand man on all of his summer projects and was also the best role model for Mason and Kaden to look up to all summer long.
The Summer of 2026 may be coming to an unofficial end, and the start of the school year might mean less hours on the farm but we’re always grateful for our time together here at Stone House Farm.
