As 2022 comes to a close, so does our 7th season farming. We are full of gratitude for the experience of raising animals on pasture, improving the health of our soils and nourishing ourselves and our community.
We are grateful to our farm team that cared for the animals and the land and grateful to our community of friends that support our farm. We know that it takes an extra effort to shop at the farm store - we hope it brings you a connection to where your food comes from.
For many years, we were so focused on the farm, we didn't look around us to realize many people don't have access to food raised using sustainable farming practices. We wanted to help our community begin to change this paradigm. Over the course of the year, we made food donations to The Corner Food Pantry in Lakeville, CT; The Food of Life/Comida de Vida Food Pantry in Amenia, NY; and The NorthEast Community Center in Millerton, NY. Our donations this year included ~2,700 dozen eggs and ~4,400 lbs of pasture raised meat. We believe nutrient dense food should be accessible to everyone and it is our responsibility to ensure that happens in our community.
As we welcome 2023, we hope to join forces with our community members - farmers, community organizations, community members, schools, healthcare providers & employers - to find more ways to increase access to good food for everyone. We are all responsible for ensuring we have a sustainable food system in the Tri Corner area.
We will keep you posted on our plans. As you ring in the New Year - give your friends and family a hug and take a minute to feel joy. With gratitude.. Linda and James
