Moosewood Maple Acres From tree to table, Moosewood Maple Acres has been producing premium maple syrup for over 10 years &

It started with one tree... through love of nature and in enjoying hobbies that combined work with fun, Bob & Charlotte Streit tapped one tree in their yard in Connecticut to start learning the process of turning sap collection into syrup. Years later and finding themselves amongst hundreds of Maple trees along Michigan's Manistee River, they have grown from boiling one gallon of sap on their home

stove to hundreds of gallons in their Sugar Shack. A family tradition was started with each year bringing more friends and generations of our family to the woods for the Maple Season. It is our pleasure to now bring the all natural goodness of real maple syrup from our doors to yours. Moosewood Maple Acres is a proud member of the Michigan Maple Syrup Association.

Nope, not the old Chicago hang out... it's maple time and here are pics from tapping trees 2 weeks ago. Sun was out, temps were warm-ish, and we had a hearty crew out in the woods kicking off the new season. Our THANKS to all who came out to help us in the woods... we couldn't do it all without ya!

So... THIS happened! Our apologies for some technical difficulties (ahem... internet in the woods is limited ;) ) We've gone from no snow, tapping our trees, collecting the 1st 600 gallons of sap & starting the boil to THIS!
Winter is here for a day or so so we'll be shoveling some snow & making soup. Next week, we'll get back to the sugar groves. Until then, HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!

In one week's time, this part of the Moosewood team will be going from this... to THIS! Time to sharpen up the drill bits, make sure we have enough wood, stretch the muscles a bit and kick off the new maple season. We cannot wait to join family & friends in our northern woods. We hate goodbyes... so this will be a "See ya soonest!" as we head north for the next maple season. Moosewood will be back and ready for more markets, more shops, and more fun in our beloved Cape Town for the next high season.
