This baby needed a little help hatching today. After a couple hours of fluffing out it was feisty enough to put in my pocket and move to the brooder 😂 If you haven't have baby chicks in your pocket you haven't lived.

It's that time of year 😍 This incubator has silkies, polish bantams, polish silkie mix, chance of frizzles!

2 incubators waiting to be filled BUT the weather isn't cooperating rn. Hens are healthy and laying but unless someone has the patience to stand and wait to get eggs the minute they lay or have fire hazards in the coop don't plan on collecting hatching eggs. I go out 3-4 times a day in the winter and they're still frozen 😂 I'm currently working on a plan to keep the nesting boxes 35F on cold days and putting my wifi govee thermometers by nesting boxes so it records if nesting boxes got too cold.

• 32°F (0°C): Won’t freeze, but embryos can die after hours
• 28–30°F: ~6–12 hours
• 20–25°F: ~2–4 hours
• 10–15°F: ~1–2 hours
• 0°F or below: 30–60 minutes

Curious ladies met their new neighbors today. They're obsessed with our new baby pig and her silkie friends in there. We call them Miss Priss and the twins.

*Sorry about the weird noise in the video. A mix between birds and cars driving in slush.
