We’re always working to improve our organic grass-fed beef here at Stillwater Farm and that starts with what they eat. We’ve been converting a small patch of former crop land on the farm to hay and pasture, but wanted to do it without tearing up our soil structure and releasing that stored carbon into the atmosphere. Problem solved. Meet my new favorite machine, the Esch no-till no-frill drill, which uses thin discs to create small cuts in the ground instead of turning over soil, inserts seeds, and then rolls them into the dirt with its wheels. It plants grass in your grass!

We thought it was worth sharing a bit of bovine inspiration during these strange and scary times to remind ourselves that the miracle of life goes on in beautiful ways. This adorable little fella was born on here on the farm today and is about 4 minutes old in this video. He was a breech birth and this first-time mom needed a little help getting him out, but both are a-ok. And yes, we named him Tug.
