Mud Creek peaked out on Saturday and is receding on Sunday. Just an extra 0.1” of rain the past 24 hours. A positive trend.

All of this unwelcome rain is a threat to our crops. It aids disease and breaks down the plant’s health. If the rain will stop, the drains will do their work and hopefully we can finish the growing season in a more normal fashion. It is a hard hit to what has been an excellent year. The lush green fields hide all the water that is standing in them.

Hard to believe. We work all spring and summer growing our crops. Things are starting to “slow down” a bit here in August. Time to prepare for harvest.

⚠️Peak growing seasin is over! While we're still in the heart of late summer, the growing season is slowly winding down.
Based on average first freeze dates, northern Indiana has fewer than 10 weeks remaining, much of central Indiana has around 10–12 weeks, and far southern Indiana typically has more than 12 weeks left. Keep in mind these are long-term averages and some years the first freeze arrives earlier or later either extending for shortening the growing season! However, it's a good reminder that fall isn't as far away as it may seem.
