The next generation of community leaders is already hard at work.

On June 8, members of NEPA’s Summer in the City "Hillside Committee" gathered at Hillside Farms for their first official meeting. This student-led initiative is focused on creating opportunities for children who may not otherwise have access to a working dairy farm to experience the wonder, learning, and connection that farm life can provide.

Founded in 2022, NEPA’s Summer in the City empowers young people to combine their passions with philanthropy while making a meaningful difference in our region.

We are excited to partner with these dedicated students as they develop a project that will expand access to agricultural education and inspire new connections between children, animals, food, and the land.

We look forward to sharing their journey and celebrating the impact these future leaders will create!

🌞🐄 What a Day at Dairy Day! 🐄🌞

Our Dairy Day Celebration was a tremendous success, with a steady stream of children and adults joining us for an afternoon of learning, laughter, and hands-on farm fun!

Guests had the opportunity to meet some of our dairy calves and other farm animals, test their knowledge at our Dairy Trivia and "Dairy or Non-Dairy?" stations, and get creative at the coloring table. Throughout the barn, there were smiles, questions, curiosity, and plenty of memorable moments as visitors connected with agriculture in meaningful ways.

Of course, one of the highlights of the day was climbing aboard the wagon for a tractor ride through our beautiful pastures, led by none other than Frank, our favorite wagon ride guide!

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. A heartfelt thank you to Abby, Laura, Frank, and Chet, and an extra round of applause to our outstanding 4-H volunteers and their parents. Your enthusiasm, knowledge, and dedication created an experience our visitors will remember for a long time.

Thank you for celebrating dairy, farming, and community with us. We loved seeing so many happy faces enjoying the farm! 💚🚜🐄🍦

Today is National Dairy Day and we are ready to celebrate! ⭐️Are you ready for some farm focused FUN?! Head to the Coach Barn between 11AM and 1PM for some farm trivia, games, and animal meet-and-greet. 🐄Then, head across the street (PLEASE use the crosswalk), climb onto the wagon and enjoy a ride through Hillside's pastures. 🚜🌱🌿

🚜🥛 REMINDER: Dairy Day is This Saturday at Hillside! 🥛🚜

Looking for some family fun this weekend? Join us this Saturday from 11 AM to 1 PM as we celebrate National Dairy Day in the Coach Barn!

Enjoy dairy-themed activities for all ages, including Dairy Trivia, Farm Animal Trivia, an Animal Meet & Greet, games, surprises, and plenty of opportunities to learn about the cows, farmers, and dairy traditions that help nourish our community. Abby and Laura plus the awesome 4-H team members will be making all the fun happen!

And here's the part many of you have been waiting for... 🥁🥁

🌾 Frank, our Director of Operations and the farm's undisputed "Best Tractor Ride Guy," will be leading the human herd on a scenic wagon ride through our beautiful pastures! If you've ever wanted to experience Hillside from a different perspective, this is your chance to climb aboard and enjoy the ride with one of the farm's favorite guides.

We'll also have the The Food Dignity Movement produce stand stocked with fresh selections from local farmers, plus our friends from NEPA’s Summer in the City sharing exciting summer activities from around the region.

Bring the family, bring your curiosity, and bring your sense of adventure.
