We love our two ducks, but have chosen to rehome them. 😢

We've had them for over a year. We recently figured out that we can go out of town for three or four days with all of these 50 or so silkies here; that will be fine until we come home. But recently we were camping for four days, and had to have the neighbor farmer come over every day just for the ducks. She checked all the coops and pens, of course, and everyone else was fine, but the ducks always needed new/more water. They have two different waterers, and manage to muck up them both.

We're retired and in our 60s, so trying to make our lives simpler. I've posted them in a couple of WI poultry groups and already have a few interested.

Does anyone else know what it's like to sadly have to "downsize" just to simplify your lives?

We'll sure miss their quacking, smiles, and antics. It was fun while we had them, for sure, and I'll never regret taking them from the person who didn't want them. They had a great life here!

Edit. Mystery solved. I had won these eggs months ago, and due to unforeseen circumstances, they couldn't be shipped, so I had messaged to just wait until spring. Thus, when they showed up weeks later without a note or msg, I thought they were anonymous. Turns out, they're from 's Silkies

As most of you know, someone anonymously sent me 8 hatching eggs about 3 weeks ago. I was so shocked and honored by someone I still don't know, but I have a sneaking suspicion.

Two of them made it yesterday. They will get much fluffier as they're pretty fresh, but I just wanted whoever sent them to know they hatched, are absolutely adorable, and I am so grateful for that show of kindness I was given. Bless you! 💖🤗

We're going camping for four days, six hours away, for a family reunion in MN. All of the coops and growout pens are secured and have enough food/water to last a week, but a farmer neighbor is checking them all daily. A boombox set to country western 🎶will play at each end of our property as we're taking the dogs, and that'll help keep the riffraff away for sure! 😁

But what's left indoors, has to come along. Aww, they are ready to go! We've always camped with chicks, so this time is no different, just less than usual.

They're ready to go in the travel brooder! First class seats are taken!

Due to the heat, our mauve rooster, who is in an outside pen, chose to stop breeding his hens. I was checking the fertility of their eggs and got a great picture for anyone who isn't sure about what they're looking for. If you know someone who has trouble with how to tell the difference, share this photo with them, as it clearly depicts a fertile egg (top) with the bullseye and a non-fertile egg.
