What's growing in the market garden? 🥬

Lately, we're harvesting late spring crops, including greens, herbs, radishes, turnips, and green garlic, and awaiting the ripening of summer stock, like squash and snow peas.

Stop by the Farm Store to take home fresh, organic produce, grown right here at Shelburne Farms.

Build the strategies, skills, and connections you need to help create a healthier, more resilient school food system. 🌱

Starting September 2026, the Farm to School Leadership Academy blends in-person gatherings (Vermont + Minnesota) with virtual sessions to help you strengthen and sustain your farm to school work. We’ll explore transformational leadership, systems change, and practical tools—all rooted in resilience, care, and community.

This national program is offered by Shelburne Farms Institute for Sustainable Schools in partnership with National Farm to School Network, funded in part through a grant from the USDA.

There's a new face at the dairy.

Over the past 30 years, Sam Dixon has been stewarding Shelburne Farms’ healthy Brown Swiss cows, their high quality milk, and the farm’s rich pastures. He’s also helped thousands of students, educators, and visitors better understand dairy farming, from the soils on up.

Now Joe Donegan, a local organic/raw milk dairy farmer, will help carry all that success forward as our new Dairy & Livestock Farm Manager, responsible for our pasture-raised dairy, beef, and sheep operations. But the handoff is unhurried.

“It’s a slow roll,” says Joe. “I’m getting to know the farm staff by working shoulder to shoulder with them and just soaking up what they’re sharing.”
