Farmstead Craftsman Spotlight — Mark Burrer 🪵

One of my favorite things about our Farmstead Store is getting to showcase the talents of people right here in our community.

Today we're shining the spotlight on Mark, a self-taught woodworker and the craftsman behind these incredible, one-of-a-kind model barns.

Mark builds each barn by hand, and it's the little details that make them so special — individual boards and shingles, tiny windows, working doors and all those finishing touches that make you want to stop and take a closer look.

And no two barns are exactly alike. ❤️

Take a little piece of the farm home with you! Mark's barns are available for purchase — perfect for displaying or for little farmers to fill with animals and enjoy.

We're so happy to have Mark's craftsmanship represented here at The Honey Goat at Bevier
Farms.

Nice dress + escaped buck + darkness + hay twine = FARM LIFE. 😂🐐

For those who know me, you know there are two sides to me: the farm girl and the fancy lady.
Well, the other, night those two sides collided.

I came home from dinner all dressed up and decided to run out and check the goats before changing for bed. I was just going to look...

Right. Al the billy goat had other plans. He'd gotten out — and of course he wanted nothing to do with me.

So there I was in the dark in a dress because there was no time to change. With a rope (to lasso him of course). And it turns out he is FAST. You ever see a cutting horse? Well that's what he reminded me of. Not to mention the jumping skills I witnessed as he hopped over the other goats like they were nothing.

I finally got him into the pen and thought I'd just grab him by the horns. You can imagine how that went.

By then I didn't even care if all his does got out. So I opened the gate to his pen…and wouldn't you know it? He walked right back in like he'd been planning to do that all along 😑

Then I found the fence he'd pushed down.
Enter the most important piece of farm equipment ever invented:
Hay twine.
Fence tied back up. Buck contained. Dress didn't even get dirty!

Just another glamorous evening on the farm. 💃

I never appreciated honey until I tasted it fresh from the hives.

Check out this comparison: the darker honey was a fall harvest when our bees were working goldenrod and had access to a nearby buckwheat field. The light golden bottle is from this year's harvest (my personal favorite)

Different flowers. Different seasons. Different color — and different flavors.

If your only experience with honey has been a bottle from the grocery store and you thought, “Eh, I could take it or leave it…” you might be surprised by fresh, raw honey straight from the hive. 🐝🍯

Honey has flavor — and the bees decide the recipe!

Just two sisters, sitting on the porch, sipping Rise & Bloom, sampling sourdough, trying to be quiet… and then realizing there was absolutely no reason to be quiet. 🤦‍♀️😂

The Honey Goat at Bevier Farms is so excited to announce our partnership with Fresh Grounds Coffee House and Roastery and the creation of our very own signature breakfast blend — Rise & Bloom!

Created especially for The Honey Goat, Rise & Bloom is exclusively available in our Farmstead Store.

Fresh Grounds, located in Ontario, Ohio, is Ontario’s first and only coffee roaster, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with a local business to bring something completely new to the store.

Rise & Bloom is a bright, smooth breakfast blend with notes of citrus and florals and a subtle chocolate finish — the perfect cup to start your morning. 🌼☕
