It’s with a heavy heart that we’re putting Red Oak Livestock on pause.
This past year brought some unexpected health challenges for me. While Mallory was finishing school and starting her career, Brevin stepped up in a big way and carried the weight of the program. He did whatever needed to be done, and I can’t thank him enough. He helped me accomplish something I had dreamed about for years.
I also want to thank Mallory. This was a dream we shared, and I’m so grateful she was part of building it from the ground up. It wasn’t just another way for her to spend daddy’s money!
A special thank you goes to Jim McCoy, Travis Platt, Doug Albright
Jim is one of the very best to ever do it and someone who helped shape the show pig industry. He was always willing to share his knowledge, offer advice, and guide us along the way. I’ll especially miss the texts before sales as he advised which pigs we should be chasing.
Travis was a tremendous partner, providing outstanding pigs and genetics, working with us on several co-owned sows, and taking the time to answer questions and help us learn.
Doug Albright was always there with advice, encouragement, and provided us with some of the best pigs we ever owned.
For people who have accomplished so much in this industry, they never hesitated to help a small startup like ours. I’ll always be grateful for their friendship, generosity, and willingness to invest in us.
I also want to thank Westside Feed Service for being an outstanding feed supplier. Their customer service was second to none, and they were always there when we needed them.
A special thank you to Emerson and Katie Marshall. No matter what we needed, they were always there to lend a hand, offer support, or help us out when we were in a bind. Friends like them are hard to find, and we’re incredibly thankful for everything they did for us.
Doug West and the West family were another great friends and partners we made in the process and who were always willing to help, and support us whenever we needed it.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank my wife, Tonya. She supported this dream from the very beginning and never complained about the pigs, the feed bills, the supplements, the miles, or the time it took to build this program. I couldn’t have done any of it without her support, and patience.
Finally, to every family who bought pigs from us, supported us, and became our friends
THANK YOU!
