Today, I planted peach hollyhocks, rough purple blazing star liatris. pink Japanese anemone robustissima, chandelier lupine, cleopatra oregano, barbeque rosemary, strawberry mint and lime mint and I luckily only interfered with one giant allium bulb!

This is what speechless actually feels like. I have no words to describe the taste of a ripe fig that I grew myself from a stick that I babied thru subzero temps, protected thru scorching heat and (impatiently) waited until the perfect moment to harvest.

Green Orchid Garden Phlox in bloom. Ignore the large horseradish leaves. I thought I had it moved but it keeps coming back again and again.

Last year I lost all the garlic to rot because the bed was just too wet under the mulch. This year, with all the rain and the cooler than normal temperatures, I assumed it would be just as bad or worse, but it’s nearly two weeks early and looking great.

Still working on building this skill myself, but I honestly think I am 80% there. Chronic pain is a tremendous teacher when it comes to finding joy in the face of too many down days.

My Green Mountain multiplier onions are large and in charge occupying most of the space in this Corten steel raised bed at the shop garden. This particular onion went into the ground as a seedling last fall and matured into an impressive size this spring. I'll harvest more as they flop over and either leave or replant a few small and a few large ones for next year's crop I also plan to plant 3-7 of these Green Mountain Multiplier Onions under each of my apple trees this fall as part of a fruit guild

I gave the Limelight Hydrangeas a haircut and you can actually see the river rock underneath them now. A little more cleanup and some potted plants and this area is going to look much more finished and cottage-like.

Rudbeckia Hirta “Maya” is a keeper for my garden. I’m going to see if I can start some more from seed in the fall so I have enough for a mass planting next spring!
