Have you ever wondered what happens to flowers that go to market but aren’t sold? I took a bucket of flowers to a local memory care center to bring some joy to their residence. Today, I deconstructed two renaining unsold bouquets and made this arrangement with some some of my favorite flowers.

Shake off the shade. Today we’re taking the shade cover off our greenhouse. We’ve already started hardening off our hardy annuals, and some are going in the ground later this week.

Last year towards the end of the season, it looked like a pomegranate tree might be popping up at the edge of the peony bed . We've tried twice to grow pomegranates so I didn't expect it to make it through the winter. This spring it revealed itself to be a p***y willow. Yesterday we decided to try to pull it out with the tractor but as Bob started to pull, over 2 ft. of the bed opened up. We realized we had to remove it by hand. It pulled out a couple of peony roots with it so I replanted them.

It was some of the most impressive root structure I've seen and a fantastic display of what can happen with great microbial activity in the soil. Unfortunately it was not beneficial to my peonies

fingers crossed that they come back next season with vigor.
