The perennials in the garden are all snuggled up under a blanket of snow waiting for springtime. Except they aren’t really just sitting there waiting. They are working. They are putting energy into their roots, building their foundations for steady growth come spring. Me too. Even though I’m spending more time inside under blankets than I usually do, I’m not just waiting for spring. Instead, I’m planning, working, laying the foundations for growth. And resting, too. Both me and the plants will need plenty of rest for what we’re planning this spring. What are you planning? Do you have springtime dreams that need their foundations laid now, under the cover of winter? If you have been dreaming of a kitchen garden...of growing your own food and flowers and tea and medicine...now is the time to lay those foundations. Let’s talk! Visit the “Garden Coaching” tab on our website to book a consultation. And let’s get growing! 🌱

Remember when it was warm?? ❄️❄️❄️ We are actually really enjoying these days of staying bundled up inside and watching the snow fall outside the window. 🧦🧤🧣I will never stop being amazed by and grateful for our study little home. 🏠 But for all the gratitude and enjoyment we get out of staying home on a windy snow day...it doesn’t stop me from daydreaming a LITTLE BIT about getting out in the garden and harvesting cut flowers. 🌸 I can’t help it! I definitely have been dreaming of baskets of local blooms since starting work on the . I am constantly blown away and inspired by the strength and vision of these women!

Hi! I noticed a lot of IG folks are introducing themselves, and I’ve never done that! So, here I go. I’m Megan, the gardener, grower, and herbalist here . I am a certified Garden Consultant 🌿, a blender of teas ☕️, a cut flower grower with 🌺, a community builder with 🍽, and a devoted dog mom! 🐶 I know it sounds like a lot of projects, but I really feel like I’m doing my dream work! Every day, I get to work with plants in my own garden, bring them inside to nourish my own body, and then talk to others about how to build strong and lasting relationships with plants! 🌱 It’s pretty cool! Not pretty pretty though. Lots of dirt and sweat! I’m going to try my best this year to share more about my garden process and how to building healthy, reciprocal relationships with the plants in our lives. Have a gardening question? Feel free to message me! Now is the time to get things ready for spring!

Yee!! We have been keeping a very exciting secret these past few months. We are so excited to announce the Old Dominion Flower Cooperative! We are a group of 11 female flower growers and designers located in the DC area who have been meeting all fall and winter to bring this dream to you. We hope to provide the highest-quality offering of cut flowers for our local floral community with the convenience of a one combined marketplace. We aim to grow the market and excitement for locally grown flowers in the Greater DMV area.

We are very excited for this new venture, and we hope you join us. We know that you won't find a more passionate bunch of flower farmers and floral designers.

How pretty is this?? Usually herbal tea leaves go straight in the compost when I strain them, but these pretty berries and white tea leaves gave me pause. What a joy to find something beautiful and expected that makes you stop and think, “look at that!” Thank you for pointing out beautiful things to me, .
