General information
I set a goal early in life. Seeing successful, independent small business owners who had a passion, worked hard and whose businesses were thriving inspired me. I wasn't even sure what type of business I wanted, but I knew I wanted my own business. I am a bit behind on my goal, but better late than never! My intention for the business is to make a difference by helping people through services provided and knowledge exchanged. Clover Hill Farm is a one acre fertile, deeply worked garden, a well-established modest, but growing berry patch, two 100 ft. asparagus rows, a dozen all natural fortified raised beds and a small, but diverse orchard. This year the farm has added fresh cut flowers. I began working the ground in 2002, but the seed of my passion had germinated well before. I have aggressively worked over 14 inches of nutrient rich topsoil. My use of plastic mulch began shortly after in addition to practices like crop rotation, green manure, using weather and early frosts to burn the young weeds and bugs. All of the products used are organic and applied by manufacturer recommendations. I am not certified organic, and do not intend to pursue it. With well over 10 years of producing mostly heirloom vegetables from seed I am confident my product speaks for itself and I guarantee its freshness upon delivery or pick up. I am proud to say Clover Hill Farm has been accepted into the Boonsboro Farmer's Market. In combination with the limit of 10 shares ensures that every customer will partake in a large variety of fresh, natural vegetables with generous portions enough for the entire family. Early vegetables start with broccoli, cauliflower, peas, onions, kale, lettuce, spinach and herbs. We'll also have many varieties of peppers and eggplant, heirloom tomatoes and beans, cucumbers, squash and zucchini. I will post updates to this page for market customers and share purchasers. This allows the customer a greater understanding of the process from germination to harvest.
