Friends and neighbors, tomorrow is election day, and we urge everyone who is eligible to vote to do so, if you have not already.
Darby and I realize that those who follow this site may have many different political views and perspectives. While we do not wish to offend anyone who may disagree, we believe this election will be the most consequential of our lifetimes and could well determine whether the great American experiment in democracy can continue. Therefore, we feel compelled to speak while there is still a chance to make a difference, or at least to take a stand. As we see it, the choice before the American people comes down to two entirely different visions for our country, whether we remain a true democracy honoring the rule of law or whether we allow it to become an autocracy servicing the whims of someone clearly exhibiting narcissistic delusions of grandeur. The choice are between:
-One wants to be a uniter, the other a divider.
-One has a to-do list, the other an enemies’ list.
-One wants to look forward, the other wants to look backward.
-One wants to help other people, the other cares only about himself.
-One is optimistic about our future and has a positive view of America, the other is constantly telling us how desolate our country is.
-One has started from humble beginnings and made a success of herself, the other inherited $400 million and bankrupted 6 companies.
-One has been a prosecutor and state attorney general, the other indicted criminally in four separate forums on a total of 91 felony counts (already convicted on 34 counts by a jury of his peers) and also found civilly liable for sexual assault and libel.
-One has consistently defended democracy, the other encouraged rioters to disrupt the peaceful certification of an election after election challenges had been resolved by the judicial system all the way up to the Supreme Court itself. (Moreover, he promises to pardon those who have been lawfully convicted of invading the capitol building, which threatened the lives of Senators, Representatives and even his own sitting Vice President.)
-One believes in a diverse citizenry where the rights of all races, ethnicities, religions and sexual orientations are protected, the other seems to promote a primarily white, Christian nationalist agenda.
-One wants to pursue an economic agenda that is applauded by economists in both sides of the political spectrum, the other wants to pursue a tariff-based agenda that those same economists predict would lead to higher costs to consumers, reignite inflation, greatly reduce economic growth and worsen the nation’s debt woes.
-One wants to protect healthcare and health options, including women’s reproductive rights, the other brags about being responsible for the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade and wants to replace the Affordable Care Act with some undefined “concept” of a health plan that he has never been able to articulate.
-One wants to reform our immigration process through bipartisan legislation (that would have become law until one person objected so as to have a campaign issue rather than a solution) to control the border but also humanely treat those who are already here and who contribute to our nation’s greatness, the other talks of using the military to round every undocumented person and expelling them, even if that means separating families.
-And, yes, one knows how to laugh (and has a sense of humor and is secure enough emotionally to tell self-deprecating jokes at her own expense), while the other cannot—utterly no sense of humor or sense of humility.
Darby and I believe that the choice before us as a nation is clear. We have already voted for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, and hope that you will consider these factors and reach the same conclusion. Looking forward to a bright future,
Eric Bronson
P.s.-Presidential historians (conservative, moderate, liberal, Republican, Independant, Democratic) have already evaluated former president Trump’s prior presidency and found it not only lacking, but dead last—ranking it even behind James Buchanan’s inept presidency that many believe contributed to the Civil War igniting. https://qzg.wvf.mybluehost.me/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Presidential-Greatness-White-Paper-2024.pdf
