The frustrating parts about articles like this is:
1. The same article is disseminated through the media without nuance, fact checking, or commentary from the farm in question.

2. The Health department hasn’t located the point of origin for the listeria. The milk was tested and not found in the milk. Which means this poor NM farm’s name has been drug through the mud and all fresh milk producers find themselves under scrutiny when in fact they likely WERE NOT the point of origin.

What do we know about Listeria?
It’s naturally found in soil, water, decaying vegetation, sewage, and the gastrointestinal tracts of animals.

Interestingly, it thrives in cool, moist environments, including food processing plants, refrigerators, and biofilms on surfaces. It is a major food safety concern due to its ability to grow at temperatures as low as 33°F.

Use critical thinking, feed your microbiome well, and train your body to be resilient— which means not sanitizing your entire existence, which only weakens your immune system.

😲🤯🤯THIS IS WHAT A WITCH HUNT LOOKS LIKE 😡! The health officials have NO idea what caused this baby's death. All tests of the raw milk dairy came back NEGATIVE for Listeria, yet they are still going to blame raw milk. This, despite the fact that Listeria can come from meats, leafy greens, cheeses, ice cream, etc.

You’re going to see a lot of misinformation from uninformed talking heads trying to clean up the mess left in the wake of the 2025 Farm Act.

That’s okay. We’re here to straighten it out.

So let’s start with the data.

Fluid milk (pasteurized liquid milk, not cheese or yogurt) has been in a multi-decade decline.
Since 2000, per-capita consumption is down nearly 30%, falling year after year.

Now here’s the inverse🤗

Raw milk—while still a niche market—is seeing the exact opposite trend.
In 2024 alone, some tracked markets saw growth as high as 65%.

Today, an estimated 11 million Americans consume unpasteurized milk.

And here in North Carolina?
There are AS MANY raw dairies as there are conventional dairies—and those are just the ones publicly listed.

*Many producers don’t list at all, because they can’t keep up with demand in their existing markets.*

Milk consumption is changing.

People are waking up to the disrepair of the U.S. food system and choosing local, whole foods in their natural form.

Yet our state agricultural policy has consistently fought raw milk and consumer choice.

Facts are on our side and the reality is thousands of people across North Carolina are safely consuming raw dairy every day.

I won’t be quiet on this issue because I don’t believe politicians keep us safe/healthy, if that were their goal they wouldn’t be pushing multi-billion dollar corporate immunity for foreign owned chemical manufacturers of known carcinogens and endocrine distruptors… but that’s a topic for another day.

Until then, be well and reject the misinformation.
