The Old Bluestone Wall Homestead is a small sustainable farm in Shohola, PA that raises heritage breed animals and heirloom fruits and vegetables in the most natural and organic way possible. Our heritage breed chickens are hatched and raised here on the homestead. Our chickens are fed certified organic feed from farms and mills in Pennsylvania and New York, heirloom fruits and vegetables from our

organic garden, and anything they find while free-ranging throughout the day in our chemical free pasture and forest. Our eggs are hand-gathered throughout the day and like all truly free-range eggs, are high in omega-3s, vitamin E, Vitamin A, and Beta-Carotene. Chicken eggs are $4.00 a dozen. We raise the following heritage breed animals, all of which are American breeds listed on the ALBC Conservation List:

CHICKENS
Jersey Giant
Buckeye
Black Java
Rhode Island Red (non-industrial)
Plymouth Barred Rock
Welsummer
Orpington
Brown Leghorn
Partridge Rock
Wyandotte

DUCKS
Cayuga
Saxony

PIGS
Tamworth

We also have French Black Copper Marans, one of the rarest breeds of chicken in the United States; producing one of the darkest chocolate-brown eggs of any breed. Heirloom produce is available when in season. At this time we only sell our naturally raised Tamworth pigs as whole or half pigs. Please contact us for more information.

Here at Bluestone we have some BIG NEWS, probably as big as when we first announced that we would be raising heritage breed Tamworth pigs. Starting next week, our Tamworth pork will be USDA inspected and stamped, allowing for the sale of individual cuts of meat.

Interested? Let us know ASAP! As always, everything is in very limited quantities. We keep things small and do things right. There is no other way.

Fresh artisan bread. Yum! πŸ₯–

We are always trying new things at Bluestone. This past weekend we jumped back into baking bread. We started with some simpler recipes but we also jumped into the deep end with our own Wild Fermented Sourdough Starter.

Fingers crossed, we'll be baking our very own wild-fermented sourdough bread in about two weeks. We are currently sourcing our organic whole wheat flower from a reputable supplier out of Vermont, but once we get it down we'll begin sourcing from upstate New York suppliers, or closer.

The weeds may continue to grow and there will always be setbacks, but it is important to slow down and notice the small things--we are surrounded by beauty and wonder every day.

These few shots are from a walk through our gardens this morning, taken with a simple Apple iPhone 6. It's impossible to capture the true beauty and amazement that surrounds us on every walk down the rows. Slow down, take a deep breath, look around--you may be amazed what you discover.
