Faith and Determination. These are traits required to farm. After the wet spring made planting almost impossible, the late start has given way to some incredible looking crops. This picture was sent in from one of our farmers in Choctow Co. It illustrates how hard these plants are working right now. Like a well oiled assembly line, from square to boll in tight formation! The crop has made strides the last four weeks but has a long way to go. Hopefully, mother nature will be kind and continue the much needed heat units into early fall.

Several years ago the National Cotton Council saw the need to set standards for cotton module wrap. This was mainly due to the rise in production and sale of "generic" or "low cost" wrap that may not share the same quality standards as the original wrap produced by Tama. This a list of current vendors who have met the standards set by ASABE and the National Cotton Council. It also contains links that explain those standards in detail.
It is important for producers do their due diligence when deciding which wrap to use.

To allow companies, manufacturers, importers and/or distributors to be included on an approved list of round module wrap providers, the National Cotton Council will accept a certificate of analysis (COA) from third party certified laboratories. We had the opportunity to attend one of the three gin schools put on by the National Cotton Ginners Association. This year was the first year that a gin school was held in the Southeast. The new Ag Technology facility at ABAC was amazing!
The gin school is compromised of three levels of classes. At the end of the third level, students have the option of taking a test and becoming a Certified Ginner. Our gin has two Certified Ginners on staff.
This year, Milstead had five employees attend the school in Tifton Ga.
In an industry that sees so much technological and regulatory changes, it's important that we stay up to date so we can create as much value as possible for our producers.

This week was the anniversary of the devastating storm that destroyed our gin plant. Hopefully the storms will stay away this year!

A cotton gin in Macon County has been rebuilt after a tornado destroyed it last year.

The '23 ginning season is complete! I can't say enough about the people who helped us get it done. Thank you to our valued customers who had faith in us when it seemed impossible. We look forward to getting the gin ready for the '24 crop. Great things are ahead 👍
