Tarentaise Calves are long and thin when born to help them get through the birth canal. This allows the cow to handle a little heavier calf at birth if conditions require so. Calves when born sometimes give you an impression of a mule deer or foal look and awkwardness. At about 2 weeks of age the calf will bulk up like any other calf born and be just as big or bigger than most calves the same age.
