Hey guys! I just wanted to post a few quick tips on how to care for your cake after you pick it up. This is especially crucial during Louisiana’s hot summer months! These tips will help you get your cakes to their destination safely and without any issues. If you’re ever unsure about something don’t hesitate to ask. Thanks!!
1. The best place to travel with the cake is sitting on the floorboard or if you have an suv, in the flat back in the trunk. You should never put your cake in the trunk of a car because it will melt. It’s not recommended to put the cake in the seat or in someone’s lap unless it’s a last resort. As always I will load the cake up for you upon pickup so we can find the best location in your vehicle ❤️😊
2. Turn up the A/C and blast it!!! The colder your car is the safer the cake will be. You want to keep it as cold as you can up until an hour or two before serving. If a cake gets too warm it can get bulges in the buttercream or fondant, it can get condensation and start to sweat, or if it’s decorated with heavy decorations or flowers, they could possibly start to fall or slide.
3. Drive slower than you normally would, take turns slowly, don’t break too suddenly, and avoid as many bumps or potholes as possible. Yes I know Shreveport streets are horrible but if you take it slow you’ll be just fine even if you do hit those bumpy tore up roads. Been there, done that 😂
4. When you get the cake to its destination, it needs to be refrigerated if at all possible. You can leave it refrigerated until you get the party set up and I’d make that the last thing you set out on the table! It’s best to let it sit out at room temp at least an hour minimum before eating it so it can come to room temp. The colder the cake is when you eat it, the more firm it will be, so you do want to let it warm up at room temp a little while before you plan to eat it so it will be nice and soft like it was intended to be. 🥰
Thank you all for your support and have a wonderful summer!!
